About Me:
I'm sort of cheating by being on here - Le Roi is actually a full black lab. However, my mom (Nancy, from Ned and Nancy) is active on this site and has gotten a ton of valuable information. I love dogs, but I haven't had one since I was a kid - first I was a workaholic (escrow officer) in various tiny apartments, and now I'm a full time student (I study Psych at CSUSB) in a tiny apartment (but with a huge yard this time!). I'm "new" to dog ownership, and I'm also on a tight budget, but I want to give my doggy the best home (even if only half of his genes belong on this site)!!
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
I recently adopted Le Roi (again, he's a full lab, not a doodle, if the picture didn't give that away!) from a "friend" of my brothers. This is a person I have hung out with, and I am having trouble rectifying the nice guy I met with the negligent owner who kept his dog locked in a crate, in a room with the door shut, 23 out of 24 hours a day for his first 10 months of life (until he went to the bathroom on himself and was punished)! Le Roi (it means "The King" in French) has gained 10 pounds in less than two weeks, and the vet says he's now healthy (he wasn't beaten, but he was so underweight when I met him I thought he was a collie mix). He's shockingly well-adjusted considering he was kept in a filthy crate for months. He is now developing a typical lab personality - mischevious and outgoing. I'm almost glad when he tears something up in the yard, because it means he's recovering from his imprisonment and is acting like a puppy!
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Rescue
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I guess I shouldn't answer this, since he's a doodle second cousin - but I will say I wasn't in the market for a dog, but when I met him, I just fell in love and decided to make it work (scary, it sounds like I'm talking about a marriage here).
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Le Roi enjoys long romantic walks on the beach, hiking up Mount Rubidoux, riding in the car, wrestling at the dog park (except with his Bark Park archenemy, The Malamute), digging holes in the yard, and destroying every dog toy I've gotten him within a few hours.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Yes!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
I brush and I brush, but let's just say I have acquired a 2 Swiffer a day habit since he came into my life.
Favorite Doodle Products?
His Kong Extreme is literally the ONLY toy I've found that he can't demolish. I have also bought most of his items at Costco (nothing fancy, since I'm a starving student). Their food is really good for labs, especially for the price ($22 for 40 pounds) - the Chicken and Vegetable formula doesn't contain soy, which is really bad for their skin.

I love your picture of LeRoi in the sprinkler. There is a discussion on the main page today about riding a bike with your dog.

Was that my mistake? Is it supposed to be the everlasting treat ball? Adina has a discussion on a side bar about one of them. Maybe it is the same thing?

Jolly Pet teaser ball! Just saw it on a discussion as being sturdy. Also look for the flat moos.

There is a new group called the trick group for people who want to teach their dogs tricks. You might want to join. We are starting training when we get back? Have you watched the videos yet?

Hey Kid - this is what I like to do. Welcome to doodlekisses. Half doods are welcome. Your page looks great - you sure don't need any help from me. Your pictures are really great but how about the close-up of Le Roi I took at Ned's birthday? Your profile is entertaining too.

Courtney, I just noticed Le Roi's photos and came looking in case he looked like my Thule...then I noticed he wasn't a doodle. So I came to read your profile...love it! You are totally welcome here even if you have 1/2 a doodle--my doodles wouldn't be doodles without their lab halfs =)
