We are both professionals who love the outdoors, meaning boating, biking, hiking, kayaking , sailing and just being outside. We live in the north end of Boston with a large outdoor deck for Chezzy. We have found play groups for him in the city and work hard to provide a great environment for him
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We have a golden doodle named Chezzy (born 9/18/09, who is apricot in color, playful, smart, enjoys the city and has now taken his first subway trip. He loves to sail, bike, boat and play with other dogs. He loves people, kids and other dogs. The only thing is is not happy with is putting on his booties to walk on the salt sidewalks in the city.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
They are smart,sociable,playful,and adorable.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Play outside, fetch, train, take walks in the woods in the snow, go to the beach and watch him dig in the sand, and just be with him engaging in day to day activities.
Hi Karen, I think we have one of Chezzy's sisters- she was born 9/18/2008 from Sara and Radar. Her name is Maize. I was looking at your page and it sounds like you have some allergy problems. It is interesting because we have taken Maize to the vet on numerous occassions for allergies. We have to be very careful what we feed her. Maize is allergic to beef tasting flavors (She's on a lamb and rice diet now) We still have some problems with feet chewing and ear scratching. Maize loves to bike, hike and swim with us. She's very friendly and loves other people and dogs. Chezzy's fur looks more curly than Maize, but when I saw his pic it was like looking at one of Maize's puppy pics :)
Oh my. It sounds like you have had quite an ordeal. It a good thing they are so cute & loving. Good luck with Chezzy. If you ever figure out a specific allergen, please let me know. Bodhi also has an allergy to something, but I haven't quite nailed down the source. Our other Doods is allergy free - thankfully!
Karen - FYI - I think you were trying to send a comment to Denise - but I got one from you simply asking "Denise did you get my comment - I think I did it wrong".
re: your note & Chezzy being neutered. I don't have an exact answer for you, but I can tell you that Bodhi wasn't home 5 minutes before he proceeded to rip out his stitches & we had to head back to the vet for staples.
He also was then fitted with an Elizabethan collar for the duration of his recovery. Bodhi also has allergies but he exhibits them by scooting across the floor on his butt. When it gets bad his anal glands swell.
I am no vet, but it almost sounds like Chezzy has developed a "hot spot" like our retriever used to. (They are prone to hot spots.) In Chezzy's case the itching may have started from an allergic reaction - versus a flea bite which causes a lot of them to begin. (Maybe he had a reacation to the iodine or something they used on him to clean him for the procedure.) Regardless of what began the vicious cycle it sounds like you need to prevent him from getting to the site & aggravating it even more. The Elizabethan collars are great for that. Perhaps he needs a steriod (prednisone) to reduce the inflammation as well?
Good luck - I wish I had a better answer for you.

Hi Karen,
We'd love to get together - Brae Burn is actually less than 5 minutes from my house!! Any time you want to get the pups together call me, especially if you're in the neighborhood! My home number is 617-965-0365 and my cell is 617-875-2298. Hope to hear from you soon, and hope we can have a romp in the spring somewhere in the area.
Woof Chezzy! We live in Cleveland Circle, but my Mom has yet to take me on the trolley (although I love it when they zoom by). We go to the park almost everyday (I'm 11 months and LOVE to run) and perhaps we can even get together when it is warmer. Where did your family get you? Have a nice (warm!) weekend - Jennings (and mom Margot)
Hi Karen, We live in North Reading and Sadie was born on 9/28. It would be fun to get something going when the weather gets warmer. Chezzy is a doll ! Regards, Linda
Hi Karen, Just received your note about a possible romp in the Boston area. We live in Newton, and I'd love to try to help organize a romp, maybe in the spring? Let me know what you think and how I might help.
