Yesterday we learned our 8 week old mini goldendoodle has an under bite. Our vet said he could possibly outgrow this as his upper jaw lengthens. Our question is: Have any of you had a dog with…Continue

Ahh, a parti-colored goldendoodle. Great choice of dogs. I thought a sheepadoodle when I first looked at his photo. Enjoy. A friend of mine does rescue greyhounds also. One is really a racer and she does laps of the dog park at about 60 mph.
Oh yeah--everything has to be introduced G-R-A-D-U-A-L-L-Y! No one remembers until it is toooo late!
Cowboy--cute! I have a red white and black paisley color from Lupine for Rio that looks like the handkerchiefs that cowboys use--would be a good one for your baby!
Be careful with those treats--he can't get them for a long time--puppies tummies get upset very quickly when you introduce new foods and excited puppy parents can end up with a sick dog...just use kibble for treats at first and then after a few weeks give him one treat the first day, two the second, etc--I raise pups and get so many phone calls from new owners about the diarrhea their new pup has...
It is very confusing! And there are NO rules! But lots of surprises when your pup matures and you find out what color and coat type he or she is...it's a surprise package!
Mattie is my F1--she is red and has a lovely coat but it does shed a bit and is coarser. My multigen female is the curliest and sheds the least. My black and white pup is her son, but his dad was an F1. He has a very thick wavy coat and sheds more than she does.
I love that name! I do not think there is another doodle named Cowboy on DK so he will be very special. I can only imagine how excited you are to have him home. I was sorry to read where you lost your last greyhound in March. They are never with us long enough. We had a very special black standard poodle (Wilbur) who got IMHA when he was 6.5. We tried everything medically possible to give him a chance including 2 blood transfusions, but he could not respond. He passed on December 18, 2010. We were so devastated. We missed him so much and one day in January I was online looking at standards and I did a search on non shedding poodle cross breeds and found the Australian Labradoodle. I found a breeder on the WA/Canadian border and called her just to talk. She sent me some photos of a litter that was born December 18 and I just felt it was an omen. Long story short, the breeder chose Charlie Brown for us. He came home Valentine's Day 2011 and helped heal our hearts. He is my heart dog that is for sure! A year and a half later, they were breeding Charlie's dad for the last time (but to a female that was not Charlie's mom), and Beau was a product of that breeding. It was the first time, I had ever had two dogs at the same time. I thought Charlie needed a playmate, but he really didn't! LOL He still prefers to play ball with us rather than play with any dog, even his own brother! In hindsight, we should have named Beau "Joker"! He is not necessarily the brightest bulb on the block, but such a character and a very sweet boy. If we ever find ourselves in the position of not having these two, I knowing what I know now about all the doodles in rescue, I would probably go that route. Didn't mean to write a book! Got to run, see you on DK!
Mary ~ OMG- I just checked back on my breeding definitions from my breeder and I do not know what I was thinking (or not thinking really) when I made that comment. In my mind I was thinking about F1 and the shedding factor. I should have not made that statement! I am so sorry. You are right in that F3 is the first multigenerational generation. Charlie is an F8 and Beau is an F5 both Australian lines. I just looked at the website where I copied that and I think it had to be a typo! And then I copied it! Yikes, I will be super careful from now on. I have had 3 doodles this week, coupled with company who just left yesterday and I was on auto pilot when I took a break and answered your comment.
Your little guy looks very much like Beau did at that age. I love the parti coloring. Have you picked out a name yet. I
Welcome! The picture you posted looks EXACTLY like my Rio when he was born--he is a multigen and weighs 40 pounds now--he is the son of my other doodle, Lyric and I have a third doodle who is an F1 and not related to the first two--here are some pics--of Rio at that same age and now--he has lost the pure white and pure black, but not all doodles do.
