Since retiring from teaching art, I have volunteered in schools, a no kill shelter where I answered the phone and organized and taught Critter camps. When my grandson was born, I gave that up and I took care of him while my daughter went back to school. My daughter and grandson now live in Philadelphia, we moved to Birmingham almost two years ago and now, my sweet 102 yr old mother is living with us. We have a 15 yr old English Springer Spaniel that is our baby, but we thought we might lose him last spring. It scared me and made my need for another dog grow stronger. Our little energizer bunny recovered, but knowing what a comfort Jake was when we lost our Brittany, Abby, I started the search for one more four legged child. I had been following a labradoodle on Facebook...Gander: Service Dog and had been dreaming for years about having a therapy dog. So now, we are on a waiting list and if all goes as planned, we should have our new puppy by the end of November. I've learned so much from reading your posts on here and look forward to being an active member.

What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Jake can't really go for walks anymore. He has a torn ACL and arthritis, but we live on a lake and he walks down with us almost every night and we enjoy the swans, ducks and geese while my mother fishes. Jake and I go for a pontoon ride, where we open the front gates and Jake sits in the breeze like a masthead. Until Jake got so old, we used to walk two or three miles a day.
