Hi Stephanie! Beckett is adorable!! Fremont is not too far from me. I leave on July 22 and return July 28. She is still a puppy and can sleep through the night but you would need to watch her like a hawk. She is not allowed on furniture or the bed. She sleeps fine in a crate. I currently have my neighbor's kid come over two times during the day to take her out for walks but she might really only need one potty break. Let me know if you take her. I'll return the favor if you ever go out of town!!
Frankly, now Hurley goes to his place as soon as he sees who is at the door. I think it is his 'safety zone'. When teaching Hurley 'place' at first I stayed close so that he didn't feel to isolated. His 'place' bed is near the kitchen nook so I would sit at the kitchen table or be in the kitchen where he could see me.
Not on the 'place' bed, command 'sit'. Then to indicate what you are asking pull upward on the leash with your right hand and gently apply pressure downward on your doodle's rear with your left hand. Immediate praise of 'good boy SIT' once he sits and release the tension on the collar. If your doodle breaks the 'sit' command, correct by snapping with the leash saying 'NO' at the same time that you push his rear back down into sit position. Command 'good boy sit' only ONCE, after Becket is sitting again.
For 'stay' - Command 'stay' as you place your hand palm up for the hand signal. Once you are out in front of him, command 'stay' with the hand signal as often as needed to keep him in stay position. You can gradually increase the distance between you and Becket. If he breaks the 'stay' command take him right back to the exact same spot that he broke from and repeat 'stay' and then repeat the exercise as stated above.
It is a good idea, after he is in 'STAY' to walk around and behind him repeating 'STAY' with the hand signal and randomly praise him for remaining in "STAY'. Hurley's trainer said not to keep him in 'sit' with 'stay' for more than a minute. You can add into the 'stay' command by bending down in front of him, throwing his toys and other distractions while he remains in 'stay'/ I haven't done enough of the later. Just not enough time right now.
Hi Stephanie, Oh, those are the cutest pics of Beckett! I weighed Rosie with your "technique" and she weighs just under 12lbs. She is a F1 Medium. These puppies are so precious... I can't believe how attached I am already, lol!
Thanks for the well wishes. She is doing okay. Definitely a bit drugged and she can't seem to get comfortable. She keeps snoozing for 5 minutes and then getting up and moving locations. Hopefully she feels better soon!
Stephanie, I can only remember that my sister lived in Albany Court and if you came out of the Albany Court Condos and turned left, the dog park was a couple of blocks down on the right in a park. There was a basketball court right beyond the dog park. If I think of it, the next time I talk to my sister, I'll try to get more details. Good luck!
She is a little over 10 weeks. I'm not absolutely sure about her weight, but I would guess at around 10 lbs. We'll find out for sure tomorrow when she goes in for her 2nd round of shots.

I hope that helps.

Beckett and Rosie look so alike! How old is he and what's his weight?
