I live in Solvang, CA a small town located in the Central Coast wine country, yet only 20 minutes from the Pacific Ocean.. My husband and I have been married for 30 years, have 2 children & 2 grandchildren. I "retired" last year from a career in the corporate finance world, and then, along with my son, opened a wine bar called Wandering Dog Wine Bar. My title is "Diva di Vino" and I'm having a lot more fun being a diva than I did as a corporate controller. I now work a lot from home and am enjoying the freedom of not having to be at an office every day.
I enjoy good food & wine, walking with the dogs, spending time with the grandchildren, and meeting new people.
Our Springer Spaniel/Border Collie who inspired the name of the wine bar passed away from cancer last spring. We're now ready to have another dog and I really want a Goldendoodle.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
A gorgeous, cream colored little boy - a standard Goldendoodle is joining our family on Saturday. Have a beautiful & very sweet 8 year old Landseer Newfoundland, Brenna, who bounded into our lives when she was 2. "Granddog" Lucy an 18 month Black Lab visits often, especially on the weekends.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
We're big dog people, but wanted a dog smaller than our Newfoundland. Not sure how I discovered the breed, but really liked the idea of the Retriever/Poodle mix.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Don't know yet, but we're planning on taking lots of walks, going to the beach, visiting the retirement home and hanging out at the wine bar meeting lots of people.
Well I think I need to check my spelling before hitting send. Winston was to go home on 12/7/08, but he got to come home early. The day I went down to pick out the puppy it was actually a different litter. Shelly then asked me if I would like to see one of the males from a litter that would be going home in two weeks. That is when Winston came into my life.
Hi Susan,
Congratulations on the new puppy. It's a lot of work but, worth it in the end. I am so glad you contacted me because we do not know of any other doodles in the area and it would be great to have some play dates in the future after your puppy gets it;s last set of shots. I grew up in New York City around a lot of tough guy type ny Italians so, Goombah meaning "Good Friend" & d'oro (gold) seemed like a perfect funny name for him. LOL. my email add is: outonalimb@gotsky.com

Bentley is a great name. We have been pretty lucky with the housebreaking. We have a doggie door at home, but when we first got Ned we were doing lots of summer camping. He had good bladder control so he didn't go every time I took him (about every 30 minutes until he went), so I did a lot of "potty walking." The bad thing I guess is that because we do have a doggie door at home, I don't know when Ned has to go when we camp so I just guess when I think the guys need to go. No accidents since August!
I forgot...We have a 7 year old Golden Retriever here and it took about a month for him to warm up to Lucca. Now Lucca follows him around. It's very sweet.
Lucca is a mini/med from the litter before yours. Shelly predicted he will be around 35-40 lbs but the vet thinks it will be more like 50. Cooper's (Luca's brother) vet thinks he will be around 50 lbs too. I saw your litter the week before Halloween. They were so cute and very tiny. The mom is beautiful. My husband surprised me that weekend for a "wine" trip and we ended up there to see what a goldendoodle looked like. We lost our golden retriever in Aug and I wanted a smaller dog. I agree with you. I had also forgotten about potty training after 12 years. Try the bell method. My husband thought I was crazy, but it really works!!! People are shocked when they see him ring it. There is a subject on it in Puppy Madness...Potty Bell.
Good luck to you.
