SUMMARY:August Doodle Romp
DESCRIPTION:Happy Tails Park is a great new place to walk your dog and
meet friends. Located at Seminole Park in the City of Plantation, the
park provides five acres dedicated to man's best friend. The park is h
ome to the Plantation Canine Unit and features three distinct activity
areas: a leash free run and fun area for large dogs, an exercise area
ideal for agility training and an area for smaller dogs (twenty-five
pounds or less). The park features ample parking, restroom facilities a
nd pavilions and is open to the public from 7:00 a.m. until dusk, seve
n days a week. Holiday hours will vary.Various canine events and activ
ities are held throughout the year. For information on these happening
s, you should contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 954-452-2
510.This is an unsupervised Park where dogs are permitted to run free
without a leash, and consequently, all people and animals that enter t
his Park do so strictly at their own risk. No children under the age o
f 12 are permitted without an adult over the age of 18. Protected by T
hor Guard Lightning System.\nRules and Regulations\n\nAlways observe a
ll of the posted rules.\nPeople who violate these rules are subject to
removal from the park and/or suspension.\nOwners are legally responsi
ble for their dogs and any injury caused by their dogs.\nDogs must be
on a leash when entering and exiting the dog park. Please observe on a
nd off leash areas of the park.\nAll dogs must have current rabies sho
ts and all other vaccines as required by Broward County Law and must h
ave their rabies tag displayed in ready view by demand.\nDo not leave
the park gates open, and watch for dogs on the other side when you are
entering and/or leaving, so they do not escape.\nNever leave your dog
unattended. Dog owners must remain with their dogs in the exercise ar
ea and keep their dogs in their sight at all times.\nKeep the park cle
an and sanitary. Always pick up after your dog. Plastic bags in dispen
sers and disposable cans are available throughout the park.\nA dog mus
t be removed from the park at the first sign of aggression.\nFemale do
gs in heat are not allowed in the park.\nNo food of any kind is allowe
d inside the dog park. This is a zero tolerance rule. Nothing creates
chaos faster than dogs competing for food.\nNo glass containers or alc
ohol allowed in the park.\nChildren under the age of 12 must stay with
adults at all times. Do not permit them to approach strange dogs with
out the owner's permission.\n\nHelpful Hints\nAlways keep an eye on yo
ur dog. Mischief can happen very quickly. Know your dog's habits; mak
e sure that its behavior is not threatening to other dogs. Even a frie
ndly dog may intimidate a more passive dog with its overtures. Be read
y to call your dog off if it becomes too pushy. Don't allow dogs to c
ongregate in large groups. Dogs in groups will often have problems, in
cluding dogfights. Owners should spread out and walk away in different
directions while calling their dogs. Anticipating trouble will avoid
a lot of problems. What to do if a fight does occur. If things go wrong
, stay calm. Never reach into the middle of a dogfight. You will get b
itten - often by your own dog. Distract the dogs to divert their atten
tion. A loud whistle, a pocket air horn, or a blast of water from a wa
ter bottle, pan or hose can work. Or, grab a dog by its collar. Yell f
or help if you need more people. If your dog is causing problems for o
thers, please leave the park. Come back another time when everyone, in
cluding your dog, has calmed down.\n\nFor more information visit https
