SUMMARY:Barker Days 2010, Parker, Colorado
DESCRIPTION:Tails are wagging all over Town in anticipation of Parkerï
¿½s fourth annual Barker Days event on Saturday, Sept. 11 at OBrien
Park. The event will feature a temporary dog park in the OBrien Pa
rk ball field and H2OBrien Pool, dog demonstrations, contests and d
og-related vendors.\n\nDogs and their owners can come to O'Brien Park
between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for canine fun and socialization. Dogs can t
ake a dip in the pool (closed to humans for the season and neutralized
to be dog-friendly), chase balls on the baseball field, enter contest
s, test their skills on an agility course and rub noses with local dog
-related service providers. A separate play area will be provided for
small dogs under 25 pounds that prefer to play with friends their own
size.\nIn order to ensure a successful event, owners are asked to foll
ow certain guidelines at the event. Dogs must wear a current rabies ta
g and ID tag at all times. Leashes are required outside of the fenced
event area and should be kept handy at all times as the dogs play. Own
ers are responsible for picking up after their own dogs; disposable ba
gs will be provided. All dogs must be accompanied by an adult 18 years
or older. Please, no more than two dogs per adult. Kids are welcome a
t the event, but may not be solely responsible for any dog and should
be closely supervised. Dogs in heat, puppies under four months or who
have not had final shots, aggressive dogs and dogs who are sick may no
t attend. We had nearly 600 dogs at the event in past years, so if you
r dog does not socialize well in crowds, this is not the event for him
. The owner of any dog displaying mounting behavior must immediately l
eash and remove the dog from the situation. Owners are liable for thei
r pets and are responsible for keeping their dogs within event boundar
ies.\n\nRegistration for Barker Days is $5 per dog for Parker resident
s, $7 for nonresidents; humans are free. Due to the popularity of this
event, it is highly recommended that you pre-register for this event
through Parker Recreations online registration system, www.ParkerRe
c.com. Registration the day of the event will be on a space-available
basis. Dogs who pre-register will have expedited check-in and receive
a doggie bag of treats courtesy of local businesses. For additio
nal event information, contact Meagan at 303.841.4500, ext. 3274, or m
