Just read that Doodles in Dewey 2016 is April 30 and May 1, 2016 on Dewey Beaches website. Any information or itinerary for this year's meet up? Hoping for great weather!
looks like it will mid 50s but sunny!!!
Add to Pamela's to bring list -
I have the same bandanas on all my doodles so I can find them in the crowd - theirs are turquoise and white hibiscus.
On the beach use an old leash - sand gets in the clip and can ruin them
Tons or no treats - you will find that every doodle will be your best friend if you have treats.
Charge your camera battery! Learn from my mistake - WOL! Just when you have the perfect picture it really stinks when your camera is dead. Also, bring your charger to recharge between romps.
Do NOT bring your doodles favorite ball/toy to the beach. Chances are you won't be bringing it home.
Have fun and remember - all our doodles beg for treats (especially my Charli) and poop in the middle of a crowd of humans - don't be embarrassed. Just keep an eye on your doodle so you can clean up their gift.
First timers remember to bring doggie bags, first year we forgot and had to ask around. Bring a container of water because your dog can not drink ocean water to curb their thirst. Be sure it sits tall and has a lid to keep sand at a minimal. Dress for the windy ocean weather, bring a blanket or lawn chair so your doodle can have a point of reference as they take off and play but will check in every so often. Have a towel handy for the car ride home as they will be wet and sandy. Enjoy this time with your Dood as they will wear themselves out.
Theresa - tips for first timers? I remember being cold last year...so this year I will be better prepared with layers, gloves and socks. Fingers crossed that I will not need any of that. We are just going for the day - so I will probably feed Darwin when we get down there to avoid any potential car issues (although he hasn't had a problem in a year or more). Can't wait - see you there!!
Soooo much fun last year on Saturday. We want to come again, hope we can.
Love it. We'll be there again this year!
