Million Doodle March

On March 29, individuals from across North America are lobbying for a cause they truly believe in. The Million Doodle March, organized by Matilda 1st dog from www.toonecards.com and Bocker the Labradoodle from www.bocker.tv as a way for doodle owners to have their voices heard on a question yet to be answered but often in heated debate (What type of dog will be the First Dog?), has turned into an international day of fundraising, a “dog a thon"
A walk for a cause to benefit organizations in need.

Following through with President Obama’s request for a day of service, walks are being organized to benefit organizations such as National Service Dogs, Autism Connection, The Humane Society, and hundreds of local shelters and charities. On March 29th throughout Canada the United States, and England, participants don’t even have to leave their home towns to take part in this international day of fundraising and awareness.

The Doodle owners feel strongly that labradoodles, being bred for their temperament and hypoallergenic nature, are the unique dog who can act as a role model for the country. These dogs are often companions for children with autism, helping individuals foster a special bond. The organizers of the event felt they had to step up and do something. They wanted this Million Doodle March to include all worthy causes and to focus on being a day set aside to do something good for those in need.

If you haven’t met Matilda yet, let us introduce you to her. She’s that adorable puppy that you can see on the homepage at www.toonecards.com. She was created in April 08 (Canadian born) and her 1st appearance was in her debut toonEcard, “puppy thanks”. Once President Obama won the election & promised Sasha & Malia a puppy, she begged us here at toonEcards to let her campaign. She figured if Arnie could be Governor & not U.S. born, so could she. A Canadian in the Whitehouse! After hearing that argument, we agreed to let her journey to the Whitehouse. So, on December 1, 2008, she launched her campaign and produced and starred in her next toonEcard, “pick me Mr. President.”

How can you help Matilda?

1. Contact info@toonEcards.com to get a pledge sheet and flyer (you can choose what local charity you want to march for in your own community.) It’s all about helping our own backyards. To get a pledge sheet online, go to www.toonEcards.com and click on Matilda on the homepage banner.

2. Purchase a Million Doodle March button or t-shirt at http://www.cafepress.com/toonecards (toonEcards is donating all proceeds to National Service Dogs: Assisting families living with autism ONCE CHILD, ONE DOG, ONE LIFE at a time www.nsd.on.ca ).

3. Tell EVERYONE about the Million Doodle March by sending out Matilda’s message “Pick me Mr. President.” Oh, and if you talk to the President, ask him what about Matilda?

Remember, you don't need a dog to march & there are no miles or kilometres to count. March for as long or as little as you like. Get a sponsor and you decide who you’re marching for. (A local charity that YOU choose) Tell your friends, family, schools, church’s all about the Million Doodle March and help Matilda in her quest for 1st dog!
