7th day into Albon treatment. Diarrhea - what is best - boiled chicken and rice or venison and rice?

Hi Sylvia, has your puppy had a fecal test done? If, not it's important to have one done. He/she most likely has giardia, which is very common in doodle puppies; it's also hard to get rid of and also very contagious; unless you follow certain protocols with disinfecting, the dog will keep reinfecting himself and you can get it. Albon is not your best treatment for giardia. Panacur is the preferred treatment. (You do not want metronidazole/flagyl) Food of any kind will not fix it. However, a bland diet of 50/50 finely cut plain boiled white meat chicken and plain white rice or mashed sweet potatoes might help make the stool easier to pick up. He/she will need more of the homemade food as the amount of kibble you're feeding. You can add a spoonful of plain unflavored fat free yogurt to his meals as well. But do see your vet.
