IMG_0007.jpgPossibly adopting a second Goldendoodle. I currently have Ellie, she just turned two. The Goldendoodle we are possibly adopting is an 11 month old male neutered. Would Love to hear the Pro's and Con's from those of you that added a Second Doodle to your Family!!

that is great that you get the chance to make sure that things will work out. Keep in mind though that it will be an adjustment for everyone involved and that week might not be a true representation of what the future holds. It will take a while for him to feel comfortable. He will be in a new place with new people and new smells and might be scared so you might not get to see his true personality until 2 weeks or 3. But I'm assuming that everything will go well (fingers crossed for you) and that you get to keep this guy in your home and have the chance to see his true personality and that he and Ellie are super happy together!
Do keep us posted!
I will Nancy....Just got home from shopping for him!!! I couldn't help myself. New collar, leash and Bowl to coordinate with Ellie's!!!!
Uh oh...you have committed emotionally already...you started shopping...it is a done deal. lol Good luck though. Can't wait to hear the update.
Everything is staying in the bag Amy!!!! It is ALL returnable....LOL....I am just the type of person that has to be prepared. I have a Vineyard Vines collar and leash for Ellie and of course the one that coordinates for a male, was the last one in the size I needed!!! Could NOT Resist~
I think it is great that you are hoping to adopt this little cutie. I think the week trial is a good idea.
Over the Holidays I almost adopted a 10 Month old female Labradoodle- Chester is 20 months. It didn't go well. My DH's allergies were really bad with her. Chester doesn't seem to affect him - although he suffers more then he used to during allergy seasons..
I wrote a blog about it- and I got loads of great feedback and tips about introducing a second dog. I suggest you read it. I am not confident that I introduced them well. Plus she didn't come from a good home situation- so had some training issues-which may not be the case here.
I truly wish you all the best - and don't mean to put a negative spin on this exciting time for you. I hope you are able to expand your Doodle family :) . Ellie is beautiful, and the puppy is cute.
Thank You Hazel!! I am hopeful that it will work out. I grew up having Horses and Dogs and have a pretty good intuition when it comes to animals. Ellie is very friendly and LOVES when she has Puppy Play dates. Luckily this puppy is coming from a Good, Loving Home. I know that there will be some transitioning that needs to be done, and felt in a week or two I would be able to gage how things are going. FINGERS CROSSED~
So since you called him your "new addition", I'm assuming you decided to keep him. Have you made it official with the former owner yet? Are you giving him a new name or keeping his old one?
Well Heather,Did you get you second doodle yet ??? Lots of possitive people out there telling you to go for it. Have fun!!!!!
