Allergies

Hi everyone!!! I hope someone can help me!!!! My husband is VERY allergic to dogs. When we went to the breeders home to pick up our puppy, the breeder mentioned that maybe it is the shampoo that he is actually allergic to??? Has anyone heard of this? His allergies were non existant for the first week with our puppy, but once we gave her a bath with the puppy shampoo he started getting mild allergic reactions to her. His allergies are by no means what they usually are with dogs, so I think he will be ok. I emailed the breeder to see what kind of shampoo she used on our puppy (we got her a week ago) and she said she doesn't remember!!!! So - I can't go buy that!

I'm wondering if anyone else has heard of this, and if anyone else is allergic to dogs and what kind of shampoo you use.

We did try the shampoo my husband uses and it didn't work!!! So now we know that he is not allergic to the shampoo. He gets hives from her saliva, and we bought the Air Purifier for his wheezing - so we are figuring it out!!! Thank you for your reply!

I am a severe allergy sufferer and my allergies lead to asthma.....This si why I opted for a Doodle....It sounds like your husband may be allergic to certain botanicals that are used in some shampoos......I know that I am.....Maybe he should be tested?....I also recommend Zyrtec D!....It totally saves my life during allergy season....

UPDATE!!!! We just had to travel to my husbands parents home in Scarborough, ME for a wedding this weekend. They have wood floors, my husband had NO issues while we were there for 3 days! NONE!!! So, my upcoming project is to pull up our carpets. We have hard wood under the carpet, hopefully it doesn't need too much work! Thank you to everyone that has responded - many good suggestions!
