Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi All,

Pictures are on the way!....Without recapping on the specifics of last weeks discussion concerning this poor dog, I wanted to respond to all of your inquiries with one post and ask for your suggestions in giving this boy a real name!..( Special thanks to Ann Bankert for pointing this out to me..) As I name my dogs for writers, poets, literary characters and artists, I have a few names in mind....but I am open to suggestions!..That being said, here's the latest from the shelter...

In the wake of honoring my request that he be shaved down and clipped so as to make him more comfortable and actually allow him to see, the lovely shelter tech has informed me that she did this and.... SURPRISE!...He's like a different dog!!....She told me he is actually coming around now!...He has become calm, approachable and very sweet! In fact, she reports that he is quite friendly and his tail is wagging all the time! The highlight of her report is that our doodle boy has befriended a female Pit Bull in the kennel next to him and she actually scales the fence in order to get into his kennel to be with him!! Every morning, the staff finds them sleeping together on his side of the fence!...They don't have the heart to separate them!....so cute!....

Thankfully, this shelter is adjoined to a veterinary clinic and our doodle boy has been receiving round the clock vet care and treatment for his respiratory infection. He is recovering and it looks like he will be released to me on Friday depending on his progress by weeks end.....

As most of you know, I have limited space to provide for a foster or another dog permanently so I am in the process of negotiating a local foster with Aunt Mary's Dog House here in Montclair where I could see him and work with him on a daily basis until he is ready for a new, forever home....

If you happen to know anyone local to NJ, NY, CT who is interested in a doodle and has the time, patience and love to offer this special boy please let me know. He is a non-shedder but as he is 9 months old, untrained and virtually unsocialized he will need to go to a special home where someone is either experienced with rescue dogs and their needs or patient enough to work with him as he continues on his path to becoming a healthy, happy, well adjusted doodle dog....

Again, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you all for you info, comments, support and concern for this boy as we have been going through this process...

Jacquie,
Is there any news yet about the "no name" guy? I am hoping to name him when we meet, by the way. Talk with you soon.
