Testing your dogs?

Hi,

I am just getting into breeding labradoodles. I had my first litter almost 7 weeks ago. They are doing great and getting ready for their new homes. I do have questions... I am the smart one who bred a F1B labradoodle back to a lab! Okay, like I said I am learning... but the pups are adorable and very healthy! My vet is even encouraging me to keep breeding which around here is a rare! My questions is... how do you go about getting your adults tested? The lab I bred back to has an incredible coat which is soft, silky and doesn't shed much... probably why my pups have softer coats. I really do not know what kind of coat they will end up with as they seem to change daily at this point. Some of them do shed actually most of them do some are very slight though. I have one that seems to shed quite a bit and the others are mild. Anyway, back to the question how do you go about testing your adults? I am keeping one of the puppies to breed back to a standard poodle. Do you have trouble finding a stud from poodle breeders? I want to be a small breeder.. as I do not have room for too many dogs :) I have two poodles already (toy and min. pets) When my children grow up and move into their permanant homes they will take their babies and I can increase my doodle population :) Thank you for all the advise!

Racquel...you might want to join our Breeder's group on here if you want to get deeper into breeding discussions. Just go to the group (it's the last one listed on the front page list of groups) and click on the breeder group. Then click to request an invite and wait to receive it in your email. Then once you get the email invite click on the link inside the email and you'll be a member of the breeder group and can discuss this and other breeding issues in more detail!
