Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Would somebody clarify for me what is currently being called a standard, medium, mini and is it the same for labradoodles and goldendoodles. I think in the 3 and 1/2 years since I became a doodle owner this has changed. People on this site have asked me which mine are. I am not sure anymore!

Hope this helps...: )

IALA Australian Labradoodle Breed Standard (1997 revised 2007)

Standard: 21 to 24 (not over 25) inches (or about 53-63 cm) from the wither to ground measurement. The ideal size for the female is 21-23 inches and the male is 22-24 inches. Weight range tends toward 23-30 kg (about 50-65 lbs). Oversize is a major fault.
Medium: 17 to 20 (not over 21) inches (or about 43-52 cm) from the wither to ground measurement. The ideal size for the female is 17-19 inches and the male is 18-20 inches. Weight range tends toward 13-20 kg or (about 30-45 lbs).
Miniature: 14 to 16 (not over 17) inches (or about 35-42 cm) from the wither to ground measurement. There is no correlation between height and sex in the Miniature size. Weight range tends toward 7-12 kg or (about 15-25 lbs). Undersize is a Major fault.
Thanks for the clarification. I think that makes my adult boy a standard size, which is what I thought he was. My younger one may or may not make to standard size.

Hi Jacquie - so I have a "mini" goldendoodle - F1 - his mom is a golden, dad is a 9lb mini poodle. So - Teddy is about 43 pounds - last time I checked. So - he's not a mini - is he? That's ok - more of him to love! Do Goldendoodles follow the same standards?
Hi Dori....Technically he's a "small medium"....( so is Blake @ 42 lbs and 18" at the shoulder)...Have you measured him from the shoulder to the floor?.....
Well - I just used a 1 foot long ruler (so measurement not perfect!) and came up with 21" from his shoulder/back to the grround. There is about a foot to his upper elbow knob just before his trunk starts.
Medium!
Thanks - I'll stop calling him a mini!
Geez! Calli at 20 months is 72 pounds and Cooper at 8 1/2 months is 68 pounds. Neither one has an ounce of fat on them. We're just hoping Cooper doesn't keep going and going!
hmmmmm... Rosco is about 30" at the withers... wonder what he would be called other than a PONY! :-)
LOL!
Mr. Butter is 27 inches tall at the wither and weights 78lbs. He is 21 months old now.

My Ozzy is 60 lbs at 6 months old. He seems to put on 10 lbs a month and non of which is fat. Can you give me an idea how big you think he might get? He is already taller that my 12 year old golden. Oh well we may have gotten a small pony but we all love him.
