Dear Members,
One of my goals with Doodle Kisses, is to support and promote responsible doodle breeding practices. To help encourage all current and future breeder members of Doodle Kisses to breed responsibly I would like you to please read IDOG's article on
Selecting A Breeder and my blog on
doodle health before purchasing a puppy.
By setting your standards high, responsible breeders will thrive and less responsible breeders will either raise the bar on their programs or realize that their time is better invested in other endeavors.
Because 1) I believe in assuming honesty and 2) I cannot, single-handedly check up on breeders to ensure that they meet a high standard of practice, I will only require that breeders mention their compliance with a few key items.
From now on all litter announcements (be it in a Blog or Forum post) must contain a yes or no to a bulleted list of Good Breeding Practice Criteria addressing testing of parents and health guarantee. Breeders please cut and paste the list below into any future litter announcement you make:
* OFA or PennHIP clearance on hips (or Euro equivalent) for both sire and dam:
* CERF or PRA eye clearance for both sire and dam:
* 2 yr Health Guarantee that offers monetary reimbursement (and does not require return of puppy)
* Pet puppies are sold on contract that nullifies owner's breeding rights
or puppies undergo early spay/neuter.
The above list must accompany any litter announcement from now on with simple
yes,
no, or
not tested response to each of above criteria. No further explanation is necessary. I will not ask for proof -- but as puppy buyers
you should.
Thank you for joining me in supporting responsible breeding!
Adina
