Just to get to know each other a bit better. I'd like to ask everyone... what do you do for a living NOW and what would you do if money weren't an issue?
I'm a dietitian (work for a hospital with occasional private clients) currently. Have been one for 5 years...my first and only career.
However, if money weren't an issue and I could switch careers with a snap of the fingers, here are some things I'd like to do:
1) Dog training
2) Dog photography
3) Doodle breeder (maybe someday...but too time consuming and pricey to start before I have kids or maybe even after!)
4) Stay at home tv watcher/book reader
5) Professional traveler with Clark and our doodles =)
What about you? What do you do now and what WOULD you do if you could do anything?
Hey everybody! Right now I teach preschoolers at a school for the deaf in NJ. I LOVE my job, but if money were not an issue, I would buy a farm (complete with a staff of course!) and would run a program for disadvantaged kids there. The kids would absolutely love the open space and you wouldn't believe how theraputic animals can be for children who have special needs. Of course an added benefit would be that I could have even more doodles :) Blending my love for animals and teaching is my ultimate dream!
Right now I work in our school district with disadvantaged kids, If I were to win it big I would give money to my sister, take my family on a whirl wind trip with Willson And possibly settle in the south of France with my DH, and of course Willson
Now, I'm a birth and postpartum doula, postpartum educator and happiest baby on the block educator.
If I could do anything?...I am so passionate about the birth work that I do, I certainly wouldn't stop doing it but would wish that I only had to do it during the day. I love teaching too so I would maybe add more but I would drop the postpartum doula work in a heartbeat. I would add in lactation support. I am also the co-director of the local postpartum doula organization and I've thought about working for a non profit in a leadership role. After helping run a non-profit, I would think about local politics. Then again, the doggy daycare sounds like fun :)
Currently I am an Operations Manager for a major brokerage firm - 23 years. I would love to incorporate cooking with travelling - my 2 favorite things to do! Plus I would have a bigger house with more yard so that I could have a Bernese Mountain Dog.
I am currently a doodle breeder and I just told DH a couple of weeks ago that even if we were extremely rich, I'd still breed doodles. I really do love it. I'd only have a couple of breding females, but I don't think I could give it up completely.
If money were no issue I'd definitely want DH to quit his job. (corrections officer in a prison.) I'd like to travel some, buy new cars (we ALWAYS buy used), pay off the house, support my parents so they can retire, relax & read, read, then read some more!
It a nice dream.... I'd like to think I wouldn't change too much. Either way, I'll grow old with my dogs. :o)
1. do professional dog grooming school down the road
2. live on a houseboat or back on harkers island nc
3. make sure my doodles complete training to do pet therapy at our hospital with the cardiac and cancer kids
4. Finish writing my book and figure out a way to get it published
5. Learn photography better as a hobby
6. Debate if I still want a landscape architect degre on top of my computer degree.
7. do more volunteer work and give a children's center money as well as my time for these orphaned kids
8 visit my parents and brother more
9 Lastly HIRE a service to weed my 6 acres 2 times a year

I work in University administration. I do love my job, but if money were no object I would join my mostly retired husband is spending time with our teen boys and our doodle - and maybe add another doodle or two! On the kids subject - they are worth every bit of work, anxiety, lifestyle cramping, loss of sleep and much much more. They are truly a joy. Now that mine are busy sports oriented teens, and frankly not that into me/mom anymore - I now have my doodle for quality snuggle time!
Currently semi-retired, do some part-time bookkeeping...but if I could do anything, I'd open the biggest no-kill dog shelter in the world...on-site vet clinic, training classes, behaviorists, big wooded acreage for the dogs to hike and run...and a little cottage for Jack & me right on the grounds. We would walk in the woods every morning, listen to the birds at sunset...can't think of anything closer to heaven on earth.

Well currently I work part time for Canada Post. What I would love to do is have a house that is finished so I could write more. I'd love to be a published writer one day. I would also love to get Dyson trained up enough that I could have him be a therapy dog. I would imagine if money was not an issue that my wife would also quit her job and become a full time trainer of dogs to assist with children with disabilities. I could see that being our focus as a couple with each of us branching off into our own little interests. I could see travel being a bit of fun too.
I'm a secretary at a Middle School and if money would not be a problem, I would buy about 10 acres in the country, I would build a big, nice, homey country home with wrap around porches and I would rescue every dog I could. I would find good homes for as many as I could and I would take of the other for the rest of them for life.
I'm a nurse practitioner and Aflac life insurance agent. I work as a nurse practitioner at an anti-aging practice in San Diego/and urgent care for a major hospital. If money wasn't an issue I would scale down my work and volunteer more time doing pet therapy @ Rady's Children's hospital with my doodle, Winston!
