Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi there. I'm a new doodle owner and am appreciating all the info here. My 4 month old Australian labradoodle started having night-time diarrhea at about 12 weeks old. Nothing during the day, then diarrhea starting at 5pm and every 2 hours after that, all night long. The exact same pattern every day. I did not sleep much. She still was happy and energetic, for the most part. She went on a short course of metronidazole but the diarrhea came back the day the meds stopped. She's now on a longer course of it and I've added probiotics (Proviable DC) and a teaspoon of pumpkin with her meals. She's eating the chicken based kibble she's been on since birth (Life's Abundance Puppy). I've taken out treats other than 1 ingredient dehydrated chicken. Her stool samples are clear thus far. She's seems fine and has well formed poops while on the meds, but I'm concerned about what might happen when she comes off the meds again. Any experience and advice out there on the sensitive stomach situation? Food options? Thanks!

Be sure to give the Proviable for several weeks after the metronidazole is finished. This is very important.

Why was she given metronidazole? Did she have a positive stool culture? Giardia? If giardia, Panacur is a much better treatment option.
