Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I just wanted to throw this out there. I don't even know if I am allowed to or not on this website so if I am not I hope Adina will forgive me.

Most of us on here are Hopeless Doodle Addicts, no matter what our number status is on here. I am almost totally confident that if I was to come to any of your homes, I would be able to find more toys then the average toy store has. (My house literally is overrun with toys) I bet I could find brushes and grooming supplies that have cost so much money that you could feed a shelter or rescue dog for a year with the money you spent on it. I am not saying you shouldn't. Lord, I am not kidding when I say I hide some of Jack's toys when people come over because it is down right embarrassing.

My health is horrible and I am only able to work one day a week, but somehow I always budget in for Jack.

I have started something that I really want to see take off. For Jack's second birthday which is a week from today, I am having a birthday party for him. In lieu of gifts I am accepting money and or food for the local shelter.

What I did not realize is that we right here, some very special doodles are in need. I have to be honest, I never in a million years could have imagined that a doodle would be in need, I mean they are the cutest, sweetest and most loving dogs in all the world right?? HA. who knew.

I have not been on here long so I was not fully aware of the DRC group on here. I just talked to Karen yesterday.  I have donated some money to them already, I don't have much, but I spent what I would have spent on an average day taking Jack out to buy him more toys he does not need.

Would you join me in donating something to DRC?  Just click on this link and you can see.

Did you know Adina's little Rosco came from there??? I will now be donating all of Jack's christmas, birthday, easter, and holiday present funds to this amazing organization.

Would you join me in wishing my baby a happy birthday by helping another dood in need? I promise Jack is having a huge party, with dog cake, ice cream and lots of fun. We need to make other dood's lives better.

So what do you say, so many of you said you wanted to come to Jack's birthday  party. This is a way you can contribute. For each person that contributes because of this post. I will personally send you a little and I do mean little because that is all I can do, token to say thank you for helping other doods.

What do you say? Who is in?

That is so great!!!! I wish I could have been a part of it, but you can bet your doodle that I will from now on.  Like I said, I am not the richest person in the world but every bit helps. I also so that their are other ways to donate such as offering to transport doodles, foster parent etc. Those are things I am excited to do.

See I think God knew what he was doing when he matched us with doodles, they have such big hearts but their owners have even bigger hearts!!!

Lol Laurie,  I can't stand clutter.. it kills me so all Jacks toys are color coordinated and in baskets and bins according to size, shape and purpose.. I am nuts...

I just hide the bins in containers that look like house decorations!!! Stick with me kid, I will teach you to sneak dog toys everywhere and no one will ever know what you have hidden where!!!

Ok, now I'm on a huge guilt trip about my trip to Moochie and Co. yesterday to get ready for Lucy and Sophie's B-day this week!   (In my defense it was only one new toy each ..... the rest was quality treats and new leashes and collars ..... girls have to be fashionable you know).    lol, but that's ok, because we love the DRC and we wouldn't wanna let little Jack's b-day go by without helping out a great cause on his behalf!  So, there's a little in there for Jack's big day, and then a little more for Lucy and Sophie's B-day too!

Great idea Jennifer!   (No little thank you required!)

Well if you all are not wanting the little something something we were going to send, For each person who contributes in Jack's name, I will donate two dollars up to 100 dollars. I know that is not much, but it adds up. Plus I already donated. I will also include those who donated for the doodle that was beaten that I somehow totally missed. So please keep the donations coming!!!

I could only imagine what would happen to my Jack if I was to die and didn't have someone to take care of him. I actually have money set aside for the person I appointed his God mother to take him in the event of my death but if I didn't have that, I would sell my soul to know my baby was going to a good home!

Thank you Karen and all the others involved in this rescue. This is a non profit organization. Not a business. I already got my receipt via email that I am going to save for future uses if I need it.

Thank you guys so much. I will tell you the total money donated by you all and then how much I am going to contribute. If you do contribute. Even a few dollars will help, just think I will add two dollars to it. Every bit helps.

Thanks again...

Okay Lucy and Sophies mom. no guilt allowed. You restrained yourself way better then I did. Jack has so many things for his birthday it is insane. My mom has spoiled him rotten and I did get him a ton of a few I am not telling the amount of birthday presents. Jack won't really know his birthday from any other day since he is spoiled every day.

Thank you for contributing to DRC... I can't wait to hear what the funds are going to do.

Um...people who foster for us do NOT need to be feeling guilty about anything, Sheri. You saved four doodles' lives last year, kiddo, and took better care of every one of them than the majority of dog owners do for their own dogs. If we had no place to put them, we couldn't have helped them.
I was just teasing about the guilt trip (I actually thought the timing was pretty funny as I did go a little overboard for their b-day, but not with toys .... see me trying to justify that to myself). Last year we took in our 1st foster (Topper) the evening before their 2nd birthday.  Topper had a pretty difficult 1st day (or should I say I did) and I was unable to get anything together for their birthday ...... it almost went by without notice.  They were so unhappy with the foster being here, and it was their b-day, and I was feeling extra bad).  But everyone survived and every time I see pics of Topper in his new home with those kids, it is all worth it!

You are an angel for doing that. My hearts desire would be to Foster. I can't do long term as in a forever home. but I would love to foster. You deserve a Saint's hat. If there is such a thing.

People like you are my hero!!

Jennifer (and Jack)

What a lovely idea. Dylan and I have just made a donation from here in the UK, it's my birthday tomorrow so this is Dylan's gift to me to help out some of his fellow doodles!

Hope you and Jack have a great day
Xxx
Tina I will count your donation as well toward what we are going to give. Thanks for giving.. All dogs deserve love.

Also, I didn't post this for anyone to feel guilty about what they do give and do for their dood's. If so, I stand more convincted then the average person, as I can't find anything else to buy for this boy. I do think it is great to spoil our babies to the max, as long as good behavior goes along with that spoiling.

I just want to spread the love...

Very well put ......... In the words of my DH, 25 years ago when he married me, "I will spoil you rotten, until the day you start ACTING spoiled, then I will spoil you no more".
