THIS JUST IN...

ALL 285+ DOGS HAVE BEEN TAKEN INTO 10 DIFFERENT RESCUES. THEY ARE ALL SPOKEN FOR.

THEY WILL BE EVALUATED, VETTED AND SOCIALIZED AND ONLY THEN, BE PUT UP FOR ADOPTION. NO WORD ON WHEN, IT WILL PROBABLY BE ON A DOG BY DOG BASIS.

The DRRC brought home one of that monster's dogs yesterday and are trying to get 6 more of his dogs into adoptive or foster homes.

We named the one we brought home, Finnigan. He is a young (1-2 years) old, neutered male. He is the sweetest thing I ever met, especially for what he has been through. We just couldn't leave him there. He is a tripod, missing his front left leg. I don't even want to think about how that happened, but it doesn't seem to bother him. He is completely, housebroken, walks great on a leash and loves to snuggle. I am always amazed at how these dogs are willing to give humans another chance. He has had all is shots and is ready for adoption. We are fostering him until that time and already have a couple of applications from IDOG and DRRC folks.

If anyone can help out, even a couple dollars for the vet fees, it would be greatly appreciated.

We have a Chip-In set up on our Main Page

and 100% - ALL OF IT, goes to the dogs.

The DRRC is appreciative for all of your support and concern and Thank You, to Adina for all you have done.

I wouldnt count on the socializing quickly anytime soon, Honey still is deathly affarid of people after 6 months of socializing her. This dog what ever happened to her will not go away, all dogs for AH will carry the abuse with them for life. You might be lucky to get them to a point where they are acceptable of their new home situations...but with Honey she is just finally getting close to me after 6 months, and will aproach others on her free will, when they go to pet her, she runs back to me. I highly recommend a book called Scaredy Dog, by Ali Brown, she is from PA and Well Known all over the country and a very good animail behaviorist. This book would help a lot of new adoptive parents.
I thought that Honey is a certified therapy/service dog?.......How ever did she manage to get certified being "deathly affraid of people after 6 months of socializing her?"...Just curious...
To be completely honest, I have quite a bit of experience with Skip's dogs...Blake is from AH, I've fostered 3 others and I know at least 20 people personally who have doodles that came from Almost Heaven......I have yet to meet one that didn't rehab beautifully....and almost immediately BTW!...No matter the extent of the abuse they sustained while there....They are easily trainable, extremely attentive, focused on their owners and so want to please....They KNOW that they were saved and by the way that they come around, you would think that when they put their paws on your shoulders and cover your face with "doodle kisses" that they are actually saying "I love you!...thank you for saving me!..I promise I will be the best dog in the world."
I'm curious too.
Wow, I'm curious also as to where you got your information....I have never said Honey was a Service Dog...I do own Two dogs..and have clearly stated my Service dog is Hannah....
I think it was a mix-up because their names both start with H.
But I have to admit I too was under the impression that they BOTH act as service dogs for you and both are at your side when you go places that normally don't allow dogs and both are at the doctor's office. If that is not the case, please clarify. Perhaps I got confused.
when I said both my dogs are covered under my doctors letter I never felt I need to clearly state which dogs I was talking about, that is MY personal business and if you's want to assume..that is up to you...
I had that impression, Adina, probably you were thinking of this post:

Both my dogs are covered under the ADA with my Doctors letter which I carry with me where ever we go, and if anyone ask, I gladly offer it. ... I allow people to interact with my dogs, because they are used and trained for both Service/and Therapy dogs.
Ok i have a few Q.

what is DRRC?

was this a puppy mill/ Horder situation?

Were was this rescue at and is there more info on this rescue online?

I very curiuse about this rescue.
The DRRC is The Doodle Rescue & Resource Collective, works with IDOG and other rescues to save doodles. Working with other's as a Collective. Work with foster homes and not a one location shelter.

A Puppy Mill is like a chicken coop farm but for dogs. They sell puppies on the Internet and to Pet Stores. Almost Heaven was under investigation for years and was finally shut down last week. Hundreds of dogs were removed in various states of abuse, never had any vetting, gave birth to litter after litter and all in disgusting and appalling conditions. There have been many discussions here on Doodle Kisses regarding Almost Heaven that you can search from the search box in the upper right corner.

All above information is available online. Members here on Doodle Kisses are part of the rescue.
I know what a puppy mill is. I am a vol. of 8 years at Greenhill humane society in Oregon. We deal with alot of horders and back yard breeder. Luckaly not alot of puppy mills. We do get dogs in that are from puppy mills though.

Thank you i will do a search i am interested in finding out more.
