I certainly am missing the 'Search Feature'

There have been several discussions about what type of fencing members have used.  Many discussions had pictures, links, and  recommendations.

We are looking at the varieties and alternatives to traditional fencing this week.   If you have an idea, link, and/or picture.

Someone posted this link last year.  It is the only one I had bookmarked.  Deer Fencing.  http://www.bennersgardens.com/

It was easy with one dog--impossible with two.  Would love to enjoy the backyard this summer.

Thanks for your ideas and suggestions.

I used a product similar to the deer fencing, not sure if that is exactly what it was to fence off an area in the yard that we had just seeded and I wanted the girls to stay off of it along with some flower beds that they wouldn't stay out of. It worked for several days, and then they figured out how to get underneath it. I probably didn't install it as tightly as I should have.

We started out with Invisible fencing and then decided that wasn't for us, so we went to an aluminum fence. I absolutely love the look and it works great with the girls. Didn't hold up to well to the idiot behind us that hit it with his lawnmower though.

I think fence type has a lot to do with your particular home and the setting of the home. Had we been on a wooded lot I would have liked to do a split rail or a board farm fence with a black coated wire on the inside however on our particular lot that wouldn't really have looked right. Would have been much cheaper though. However, we have a neighbor that put that type up and their doodles chewed the wire so you also have to consider the doodles as well. Can they jump, are the head strong, so many factors. Our choice has worked well for us though.

I love that type of fencing! And I'm very jealous of your yard, mine is tiny.
after 10 years in Florida where the houses were 10 feet apart and the back yard basically non existant, I knew when we moved here I wanted a little bit of space around me!
Sheri, so this is an aluminum fence in black?
Very NICE
yes, is also available in white. You see it a lot around swimming pools.
LOVE your fence and yard. And two gorgeous doodles. Ahhh. Makes me happy and restful just to look at that pic. Good fencing w/ dogs worth every penny in my opinion.
I would love for that fence also we also have to do something too three sides of our neighbors have a wood fence but I like the aluminum
I always had great luck w/ Invisible Fences. I tested the shock on myself so I knew it was set at a low level (mine just felt like a pulse, not a shock). I also set the fence so my best flower beds, landscaping were behind the fence. I trained two different dogs on them, both labs. Both only took one shock. And then never broke through. Wasn't the best if I had company dogs over, though. I left flags up for a long time and a few up forever. My doodle Sheila seems more sensitive and is smaller than my labs, though, so I'd see how some other owners of doodles comment. See how they react to the sensation. It took both my labs awhile to even venture anywhere close to the flags. But I had big yards. I probably won't use one with Sheila, she is so small and our new backyard is narrow. I'm afraid she won't go in backyard period because the flags would be too close for comfort.
We've had lots of discussions about electric fences here and it's something of a hot button topic. I will just say that in my area, the coyotes have attacked full-sized labrador retrievers and killed small dogs who were in yards with e-fences.
Sheila -- we didn't have any trouble with training the girls on the Invisible Fence. Only problem I had with them breaking it was when I let the batteries get too low one time. My problems came in with other dogs coming into the yard, (never saw a single stray dog until I installed the invisible fence) and then the empty house next door was purchased by a couple with 3 toddlers and a weiner dog. I was scared that the kids would come into the yard to play with the dogs and they would get hurt by the dogs, or my girls jumping on the back of the weiner dog (which would probably not have a good end result) so I just decided I had to do what would make me the most comfortable and that was a regular fence that would keep my dogs and the neighbors kids and dog safe.
We just ordered an aluminum fence in Brushed bronze and it should be installed soon. Like you said, with two dogs it seemed a good option. We found a local guy and his price was good. Home Depot's was very high for the aluminum, from my experience.
The brushed bronze sounds so nice! Please post the pics when you get it.
