Am I growing a beard?

Hi Doodle Kisses!

We just brought home our second goldendoodle, Yogi, about a week ago. Yogi is a wonderful puppy, and we are in love.

He looks quite different than our first goldendoodle, Fozzie, did at his age, though. Yogi is an F1 and just under 9 weeks old. He's much more retriever-y. He's very fluffy and has straight, soft fur with longer wisps sprouting out over his body.

Over the last few days, we've noticed that he seems to be growing 'wings' around his cheeks. These hairs are very fine, and you can only really notice them close up. But, they appear to be growing in length. Is this the begining of a beard? Do you think he'll 'doodle out'?

I posted a similar message on 'Where is the Poodle in my Doodle?' group the other day but thought to post it on the broader message board, too. I'd greatly appreciate any feedback or insights! I've really enjoyed this site and have learned a lot.

thanks, everybody! your insight is hugely appreciated. yogi is a delight, that's for sure. and believe it or not, but this morning, he woke up with noticeably more facial hair. it's starting to come in on his chin. he's got pronounced tusks on each side. silly boy! he is going to be fun to watch grow!

OMG! I think our puppies could be each other's body doubles. They look identical! Please keep posting pics of sweet Knox, will be fun to see if he and Yogi continue to resemble each other as they age.

Here's a pic of our smooth-coated beardless doodle Luna at about 11 weeks old.  Your pup seems to have quite a bit more "scruff" than she did, so he may get pretty scruffy!  My prediction is he'll have a scruffy face but a short beard.

thanks everybody! wanted to share a new photo of yogi, who is 10 weeks old today. he's growing a ton of crazy hair all over his face and head. the hair is very fine but it's coming in more and more every day, and we're hoping it will eventually fill out and become a doodle beard.

would love any thoughts or impressions you may have. i've really enjoyed reading the responses and looking at your photos, so keep posting them!

Here is a collage I made of our sweet Koda to show the coat changes in his first year. He had a close muzzle as well for quite a long time and then it all exploded into the cute hiot mess he is today!

Those are great pics! And it's helpful to see how their coats can change. Harley didn't start to get a Doodle coat until 10 weeks, which is when we brought him home. Even now at almost 5 months, he's still mostly wavy...Harley reminds me of a kid in elementary school that never brushes his hair! Lol.

Hi Julie, he's adorable.  We also have an F1 Goldendoodle named Winston who is now 17 months.  He looked exactly like Yogi at this age and we had no idea what he would look like.  He now has a full beard and is a beautiful dog.  Here's his most recent photo.
