I have seen so many people bringing the too young to be out yet puppies inside or near the dog park. There is a reason the vets say to wait until they have had their 2nd set of shots.

This was Kramer. He crossed the Bridge this morning.

Kramer was a 7 month old stray in the shelter in  Loudon, TN that Linda Rudder was was going to foster. Linda and her husband were just about to leave to go and get him when she was finally able to get through to the shelter on the telephone to let them know she was on her way.

They gave her devastating news - Kramer was barely breathing when the staff came in this morning so they euthanized him. They believe it was Parvo of all things! He was fine yesterday tho he did vomit a couple of times but they thought it was the stress of the shelter and the new food. He was playing ball and a typical happy-go-lucky doodle puppy.

I am so sorry that Kramer didn't have a chance to live the life like our Doodles do. I am so sorry that the people in his life before he was found didn't give him that chance by getting him vaccinated.

Please tell anyone you see that has their too young to be out yet puppy about Kramer.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.

His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.

Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Kramer - although you and I never officially met, I will be your 'special someone'. You are in my heart!

RIP, Kramer!

This is so sad, poor little Kramer, so close to having a good life.
This breaks my heart. Thank you for sharing this important message for all new puppy owners.
How heartbreaking - I hope that his story makes just one person think twice before taking their puppy out. I am sure you are having a wonderful life now Kramer!! God Bless!
Adrianne, I didn't know this part of the story - about the dog park. Did you finally get some info from the shelter? Yes, Kramer is certainly in our hearts!
It wasn't Kramer at the dog park. I see so many 8-10 week old puppies there that have not completed their vaccines at the dog park. I just wanted to remind everyone and should they see someone with a young puppy to tell them about Kramer, that he died so young and should not have and to get their puppies out of there and keep them safe!
Poor Kramer. I'm sorry you never got to have the life you deserve. I'm sorry your previous owners couldn't even get your vaccinations done. You deserved more.

There is an important reminder Kramer brings up.

When you have a newborn human baby and take them in for their early appointments, they schedule the appointments first thing in the morning, or right after lunch. They move you back to a room right away. They take precautions so your unvaccinated and very vulnerable child is not exposed to the various illnesses in the waiting room.

I've lost a puppy to parvo. I could never be sure if it was the vet that he caught it at, or from the questionable breeder. (I was young, long story.. this was 19 or so years ago) Parvo is so contagious feces from an infected dog can carry the virus for months afterwards.

So it's not just dog parks or walking them -- remember at the Vet. Carry them inside, hold them in your lap, don't let them go to the bathroom in the "common" area outside the vet. Take extra precautions.
this is so sad, it really breaks my heart..Poor baby, It is weird that this got posted today, just the other day I took Oliver & Renny to the dog park near us, and there was a lady and child carrying a small dog into the park. I asked her how old the puppy was and she told me it was 10 weeks old. I proceeded to tell her that it was not safe to bring such a young dog into the park since he hadn't had all his shots yet. I told her to please not bring the dog in, and check with her vet as to what is a safe time to bring a young pup to a dog park. she thanked me and left without putting the dog down on the grass...Rest in Peace Kramer...
Nice work Cheryl!!!!
Sweet Kramer-bless your little soul!! You deserved so much better than you received here. I know you are running and playing with the wind in your hair right now!! Enjoy!!
RIP Kramer.
So sorry to hear this news... :*-(
So very sad...and such a shame.
