What is it with this dog this week?  This morning we went to the trash and on the way back Meg made a fast circle, picked up something and ran for her yard...I cleverly called her into the house, made her sit, put my hand under her mouth (what could I have been thinking) and told her drop it and she promptly dropped something the size and color of a large toad right into my hand.  I yelped and threw it, turned out to be nothing but a rock, have I  mentioned what a coward I am?  later, we went to get the mail, she does a down stay and does it well, I go back toward the house with a heel command and she heads to the left and fixates on a small clump of leaves.  Great, is she going to chase another rock/ toad?  Nope, she jumps back and then edges forward, jerks her snout back in a hurry and then tests the waters again.  Never let it be said that I am not a little bit curious so I edge closer and suddenly see about a 12" yellow and black baby snake.  I am never trusting this dog again, apparently she will play with anything.

OMD, Meg! Snakes are not good toys, sweetie!

Ha-ha-ha, Meg sure lives life on the edge ! Hope you heart can take it. :)

Snakes are way, way out of bounds, Meg!

I saw a snake Monday but fortunately the dogs missed it : )

All the exact reason, I am still keeping our 4 month girl on a leash, even in the backyard.  Hubby found a Rattler the other day...would have been disastrous had she found it first.  And this morning, as I walked her into our backyard, a coyote had just decided to use our yard as a passage way.  Enzo barked and was very proud of herself that she "scared" it away.  Hate to think what would have happened if she wasn't leashed!

Rosemary, I could not live where you live. I would have had a heart attack... rattlers, coyotes. YIKES!

Let us not forget Black Widow spiders! But....I figure everywhere has something not to like. The rest of San Diego is well worth it! ;)

Yes, San Diego is well worth it! My DD went to college in SD and I loved visiting her. We are in Hawaii now and no snakes. Yay. We had black widows in northern CA, but spiders don't bother me like snakes do. My DH had a pit in the garage for changing oil and keeping his wine cool. Many a black widow in that cozy spot.

Ahhhh......Just got back from Kona on Monday!  Soooooo beautiful!  And didn't see a single snake!  :)  Did see lots of Mongoose tho!  Never could get a decent picture of those fast little guys!

No snakes. They brought in the Mongoose to take care of rats, but rats are nocturnal and the Mongoose aren't. oops. I've only seen one since we got here and it was a baby.

Rosemary, MOVE.....LOL!!

BWAHAHAHAHA!
