We are so impossibly in love with our Phoebe that my son is now begging for a 'little doodle' to add to our big family for his birthday. I had started doing research on mini goldendoodles (which I adore) and then met and fell in love with a tiny cavadoodle. The woman said she rescued hers from a mill but for many reasons, I would prefer to be able to 'meet the parents' and drive to see and pick up our next family member (Phoebe was flown in from Arkansas). I have been researching the breed and have come up with very few breeders. Does anyone own a cavadoodle and, if so, would you be willing to share some info on your breeder?
I've also heard of miniature or toy schnoodles.....I don't know a thing about them, but it is a very small poodle mix. Does anyone own a toy schnoodle?
I had a miniature schnoodle many years ago, but she was the result of an accidental breeding of a friend's dog. She was not tiny, she weighed about 25 lbs, and was a wonderful, sweet, non-shedding dog. After she died, I longed for another one, but unfortunately, here again, there were no reputable breeders breeding them; only puppy mills and smaller puppy mills, aka BYB's.
DK member Joy is a wonderful breeder of gorgeous Giant Schnoodles, she may know of a reliable source for smaller schnoodles. That would be the only resource I would trust for them.
There is a reason that pet stores are filled with small poo mix dogs...they are profitable for the mills, because instead of having to have 2 of each breed, as you do with purebreds, one mini or toy poodle stud can father tons of different puppies...yorkie-poos, maltie-poos, bichon-poos, etc. Most of these make no sense, and you will not find any responsible breeders who are doing health testing of any kind who are breeding these.
