What is it with adult dogs, especially unneutered ones, that don't like puppies? This has been a rough week for Noah. First at class a dog nipped him and scared him. Then I took him to the small dog run earlier today and as soon as he got in there, an unneutered boston terrier jumped him and really scared him. He was still screaming after he was safe in my arms. Now I'm starting to get a little concerned why some dogs don't seem to like Noah. He usually doesn't have a problem, but this week has been bad. Noah is so sweet and really submissive so I'm not sure why dogs are doing this to him. Is it a coincidence that all of the dogs that are mean to Noah are usually bully breeds? Has anyone else had a problem with adult dogs not like your puppy?
ps - Noah was neutered at 3.5 months.

Jane,
I would say it is likely not Noah, but rather he is a victim. While no dog is perfect, so few people take even a moment to train the slightest behaviors from their dogs that the world is sadly full of idiot owners with poorly behaved animals. Sigh. Off soapbox. Noah's submissiveness "vibe" that he gives off coupled with his youth, make him more vulnerable. Keep supervising and be cautious of all dog to dog interactions until and unless you know the dog and owner - that would be my advice. Good for you for getting out there and making a difference!
Jane, I have an unnuetered male one year old...he loves puppies. I think nonniebrowne is right!
Our girl gets a LOT of mean barking from dogs in our neighborhood. We even have a lot of dogs show teeth when they just walk past each other. There might be several dogs that are walking around the neighborhood around that time but Jamie seems to be the one that gets the most of the undersired responses.I don't understand it because she is very friendly. She is being spayed next week.
