Are 2 Doods better than one?

I hate leaving our dood. I believe *know that our Monty is lonely when we are not home.  Not going to work is not an option and retirement is not an option at this point in time either.   Any opinions on having more than one dood?  Do you think they are happier?  Do you think more than one dog equals twice the work?

I have a 11 month old Goldendoodle (Sasha) and I work all day but come home for lunch to hang with her. I got Oliver (10 wks old) (Labradoodle) about 2 wks ago. Yes it is more work but in my siutation well, well worth it. Sasha has a play mate, they get along great. I crate train my dogs, I have their crates next to each other so no one gets lonely. It seems that since Oliver has arrived Sasha does not get into things she should not get into. He keeps her occupied :) and she with him. They hang together a lot. I involved Sasah in the picking out a puppy process. The breeder was nice enough to let me bring Sasha along. I wanted Sasha to be involved in the process because she had to get along with the new addition as well, it was not only my decision (well maybe). Sasha always has lots of energy, I take her running with me but still had more than me. I wanted to get a new doodle while Sasha was still young because sometimes when you bring a puppy into a home where thier is an older dog the energy and play levels differ. And sometimes older dogs are not so keen on the idea of a new puppy. So..... for me having two doodles was the best thing I ever did :) good luck Sharon.

Good luck with your decision...I have 2 doodles and a 14 year old Golden...Yes, a little more work picking up poop. On the up side they do everything together. My older doodle Ozzy and 85lbs even became my lap dog since Zoey all of 18 lbs could sit in my lap. The older Golden hated when we left the house, now we just say bye and watch the house and they don't really seem to care that we left. They all still want time with Me and my husband but like children they can run around the yard together that if we had to do it with them LOL....

This is my second go around with having litter mates and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's been mentioned a few times, but there is a group for multiple dood owners. I have a male and female. The female, Daisy, is definatley the dominant one between the two, but they have their very own unique personalities and I know they love each other to bits. Now, we got them as pups together obviously, so I'm not certain with adding another. I can share that my sister has 2 australian labradoodles and they got Gus first and then got Maddie when he was about 3. Maddie was 1 when they brought her home. They get along fine...she is the dominant between them (I'm seeing a pattern here with female dominance) but they get along great and play with each other all the time. It is everything times 2...some people have 3, 4 or more. So, there is the added expense you need to take into consideration.

Thanks everyone for sharing. I'm now more confused than before....LOL Not sure what to do but Doggie Day care looks like something I'm going to check out soon. It does feel inevitable that another dog is in our future, just might wait a bit.
