Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We got our new Labradoodle puppy (he is 5 months old) three days ago and he is absolutely astounding to us. He is housebroken, crate-trained, learned to heel in a day and is trustworthy off leash at the beach. I am completely overwhelmed by how smart Indy is. He is the most mellow dog I have ever met. My 22 month old daughter can walk him and he will walk right next to her. Are all labradoodles like this? He is a 4th gen. Australian labradoodle if that makes a difference.

Um...no, however they CAN all be like this - sounds like you got a good one there!! Congrats to you.
Wow - you got LUCKY, and that's really great !!!! Both my dood's were, and still are a lot of work, despite their intelligence and good natured personalities.... let us know how things go. You may just have the perfect dog!
I can only speak for myself and Samantha but yes - she is amazing! She adopted me when she was 11 weeks old. Her 2 accidents in the house were MY fault and not hers., She grew so fast that I forgot she was a baby.
She is so smart but not mellow. She loves to snuggle but needs to run every day and if I can't or don't she is a bit of a nudge. She IS a character - I describe her as being the class clown. She loves to make everyone laugh and has figured out what game she can make each person in my office play with her. And they think they thought of it. That is the funny part - they are outdoodle by a Doodle.
That's my Samantha
Jordan (F1) is that good, she was the easiest to train, I got her at 9w she was pad trained. I started formal training at 10w. She was 1st in her class and the youngest. Her only "issue" is she has bigger dog fear from a dog park fight.
I call her Jordan 1 time...because I only have to tell her once.
I think some dogs are just born wanting to please their people. We seem to have one of those dogs.
