I do recall with our Guinness that when we woke him to go out to potty after he had been sleeping in the crate there were some accidents for awhile. I remember it because we literally ran outside once we woke him. As I recall it didn't last long and he gained control when he got a few weeks older. I really don't know about the accident on your bed...we didn't allow the puppies on the bed or furniture....it may be that she just got a little excited or nervous.
I do stop the water after 8:00 PM but during the day I've always let them have access to it. I'm not sure it's necessary to wake her but I would rush her out the minute she wakes.
I wouldn't say that doodles are any harder to potty train than any of their parent breeds, and Poodles, Goldens, & Labs are all smart, relatively easy dogs to housebreak. Poodles in particular. But a lot depends on what was done by the breeder prior to the puppies going home. My last puppy (purebred Poodle) was crate and paper trained by her breeder before she ever got to me, and she housebroke in about a day and a half, lol.
You might consider ruling out a UTI.
Annabelle was very easy to train. The 2 times she had an accident was when she was in my husbands care and he wasn't paying attention to her signals. He had his nose stuck in a crossword the whole time. My mother in law told me before we got married that he would be a terrible baby sitter, he was and his puppy sitting wasn't any better.
I think with girl puppies who have regressed should have UTI's ruled out.
I too would rule out a UTI - Myla also regressed after a while - She would let us know to go outside, she would go pee outside and then we would play and when we brought her back inside, she would immediately pee. I honestly didn't think it was a UTI because she was sleeping all night in her crate without going and I figured (wrongly) that if she had a UTI she would want to go outside during the night. I finally called the vet and they asked me to bring in a Myla and if I could also bring in a urine sample (this was almost four years ago) - Myla did not like me following her around with a sour cream container when she was trying to pee lol. It was a UTI and I really felt badly that I had not brought her in sooner! She got some meds and was better almost immediately and has never had another one since.
I never woke a sleeping dog, so I don't know about peeing while still half asleep. I don't think doodles, as a rule, should be hard to train because they are smart dogs. I would be more suspicious that she had a UTI since this is new behavior.
As a puppy Ned peed once on the bed - we were camping in our RV and he peed on the bed my mom and her Westie slept on - I think it was done on purpose, however perhaps not. It was the only time he ever peed on furniture.
