I have heard of getting meds mailed to your home, but I just got a catalog in the mail this week and just looked through it.... it was called "Doctors Foster and Smith". While browsing through it - I saw dog vitamins (which coincidentally coincides to my last forum post) and "AT-HOME" vaccinations! Anything from Parvovirus to Lymes to Bordetella which comes with a video on how to vaccinate at home. I don't know... I think even with the high costs of vet visits, I'd rather go to the vet for her shots....
We do vaccinations at home. My mom has 2 doodles, sister has 1, and I have 1. We also have 3 horses and around 40 alpacas. Part of alpaca maintainance is a worming shot every 6-8 weeks along with yearly vaccinations. Needless to say, we had plenty of practice giving alpaca shots before we realized that we could buy vaccinations for the dogs. There are several farm supply stores, including TSC and local co-ops, which sell vaccinations. Most farmers/ranchers handle animal vaccinations themselves buying the supplies at local stores so I'm not worried about the safety of the shots. We are the ultimate do-it-yourselfers so.....what's another shot or two? :-) (It IS interesting having a package arrive containing dry ice and syringes...it's like you're in a sci fi thriller or something.)
