Auggie did not want to eat on Saturday morning and seemed a bit off the whole day. I took the boys out for a doodle romp in the afternoon and Auggie seemed to perk up and played with the other dogs just fine. I boiled some rice and chicken for him in the evening and he did eat some of it. Last night we heard him scratching constantly and at about 1pm my DH had to take him out because of loose bowels. I can smell bad gas coming out of Auggie on occasions this morning, he refused his breakfast again and is just moping around (although he did try to attack and chase Monty the first thing in the morning). But he is definitely not feeling well and I can't tell what's wrong. He is still scratching on occasions; I looked through his fur for flees, but did not see anything. I'm not sure if I'm imagining it or not, but it almost looks like his eyes are a bit swollen (just like mine since I did not get much sleep last night). I can't tell for sure. My DH said Auggie drank some water in the morning.
I'm going to the store to see if I can find some anti itch shampoo and give him a bath. Would you suggest a baby Benadryl or something? If so, how much? Any other ideas of what I can do before taking him to the vet tomorrow morning?

Sorry to hear Auggie is not feeling well and also that Spud wasn't well either! Hope they are both better completely and very soon.
When I wasn't well a couple of weeks ago the skin over my whole body was ultra sensitive, irritated and sore to the touch. Quite scary at the time and no reason to expect it may not be the same for an ill dog.
Please keep us updated as to how poor Auggie is doing and what you decided to do.
If you haven't already, I would be tempted to take him to the Vet before it could possibly become an emergency. Especially because of the increased swelling in his eyes, and you don't know if it an allergic reaction to something or maybe a virus .... Just my thought!
I'm so sorry about Auggie. Have you looked him over for insect bites? I think diarrhea can be a sign of severe allergic reaction to bites in humans. Not sure about dogs though. Since he seems to be swelling perhaps there is a connection? Anyhow, I sure hope he is feeling better soon but if you think his symptoms are intensifying it might be worth a trip to the ER. Hoping for good news in your next update!
Maybe around his face or eye where you are seeing the swelling?
I did not see anything, but it does not mean it was not there.
I'm sorry Auggie is not feeling well. Since he is having gas and liquid diarrhea, which seems like an gastric/intestinal thing, I'm not sure a benadryl or a bath are a good idea right now. If the symptoms or swelling intensify, or if he starts vomiting, I'd get him to the vet ASAP. Can you check his temperature? It's always scary when they're not feeling good, isn't it. Hoping for good news soon.
We all took a three hour nap and the Claritin must have worked. Auggie's eye is not all that swollen anymore and his energy level seems to be higher. He just wrestled with Monty for good 20 minutes outside, then came back inside and went straight to his food bowl.
So glad to hear that he is doing better.
