Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi Everyone, I would be very interested in hearing about your experiences with your Aussiedoodle puppies in terms of training and personality.

We have a 2 and a half year old Aussiedoodle! She is incredibly smart and learns very fast. We had her in dog training for the first few months after we adopted her, however we found it very difficult to get to her focus in their "classroom" situation as the sessions were held in a big warehouse with numerous other dogs and people. We opted to continue training her outside of their instruction, in our own home, and she has improved a lot. She can do all the basic commands and a few other fun ones! The only issue that we are currently working on with her is containing her "over excitement" when we try to leave the house (if she is not crated) or when people come in. She knows that her behaviour is not right, but she has a hard time controlling herself once she gets into the "hyper" state of mind. Potty training her at first was definitely a challenge, but the funny thing that actually allowed her to finally connect that she needed to go outside to use the bathroom was SNOW! Once we had our first snow fall, she wanted to be outside all the time and from that point on, we never had another accident inside the house. She is amazing with other dogs and we have never had a problem, she loves to be social. We are working on her jumping when she gets excited as it's not polite and frankly we don't want her knocking someone down that might not expect her to do it. Everything is a work in progress, but she is a smart girl and makes steps towards improvement all the time! :)
Our Mindy is very similar. She knows she's not supposed to jump up but her excitement is overwhelming. She is very loving and social, but she barks at people outside out of excitement and when they come in she just loses it. Jumping etc. I am working with her on it because she doesn't distinguish between little kids and adults. She just jumps.
