Scary because when I was researching to get a puppy that nj goldendoodle website had come up in my research and I considered them!!! Sick...people are just sick!
http://goldendoodle.newjerseypuppiesforsale.com/?awkw=NJ%20goldendo... this is one of the websites I encountered and it was on that video clip! I wasn't even expecting to find it still running after this but I guess they don't think they are doing anything wrong!

I am so glad to see the Today Show discussing this topic and getting the TRUTH out to the public! And the news of the lawsuit being brought against this group is very exciting! Can't wait to see how this all turns out! Hopefully they will be able to shut down this broker which would be one more step toward shutting down the mills!!
I believe there is a similar broker located in Oxford, MA. When we were looking for a Goldendoodle internet searches always brought up this site. http://laughlinkennel.com/. It is clearly a "broker" for almost any breed you can think of. Needless to say we weren't interested in doing business with them and continued our search. What has always troubled me is that their ad shows up frequently here on the DK site as a "Pop Up" on the right side of the page. I wonder if there is a way for Adina to "screen" these "Pop Ups" .... I don't know enough about how web pages work...maybe pop-ups are beyond a site's control. This morning I did a search for complaints against this broker and quickly came up with this news report http://www.thebostonchannel.com/r/17946419/detail.html
Sounds very familiar to the story reported on this mornings television program. Leads me to believe there are many of these businesses (I use that term loosely) across the country. UGH!
I had run across both of those sites before Carol, but I don't think when I saw the Laughlin it was called that but it was in Ohio but it was identical - look at what they have about a health guarantee: Health Guarantee
Although our vets check our puppies closely up until they go home with you, we never know what can happen. Laughlin Kennel has a 14-day unconditional health guarantee on all of our puppies. Just return the puppy with a veterinarian's note for a full refund. We also have a limited one year congenital guarantee and, for a fee, an optional extension to two years.
Return the puppy for a full refund? Like a pair of jeans! How absolutely disgusting. They should all be forced to be shut down then stuffed in a wire cage for years.
Laughlin is associated with puppy-mill operator Kathy Bauck, I believe, who is very well-known as one of the worst abusers to be busted to date. And I only use the word "abuser" because what she should really be called will be censored here.
About Kathy Bauck:
The Case
In early 2008, freelance animal cruelty investigator Jason Smith began working at Pick of the Litter Kennels to gather evidence against its operator, Kathy Bauck. Smith submitted testimony and videos of alleged abuse to Otter Tail County sheriff’s detectives in May 2008. The videos included footage of injured, ill and emaciated dogs, as well as of Bauck dunking dogs in vats of insecticide.
The New York Mills, Minnesota, breeder, who has at times housed more than 1,300 dogs of at least 32 breeds, was arrested in August 2008 and charged with several counts of felony animal cruelty, torture and practicing veterinary medicine without a license.
With her history of complaints and citations against her—including a 2006 cease-and-desist order from the Minnesota Board of Veterinary Medicine for performing surgery on animals without a veterinary license—Bauck is well-known to ASPCA investigators. “Kathy Bauck has been a chronic problem,” said Bob Baker, ASPCA Anti-Cruelty Initiatives Investigator. “I visited her facility in 1998 and reported her to the USDA for violations of the Animal Welfare Act, but as far as I know, there was no follow-up on the part of USDA.”
And as far as know, she's still out there breeding and selling dogs, probably on-line. These people switch kennel names, locations, etc., and fly under the radar, and even when they are charged with a crime, the punishment is slim to none.
I don't know how anyone can buy a puppy on-line and have it shipped to them, once you know this is what you may be supporting. If she could fool thousands of people for diozens of years, she could fool you, too.
Unbelievable. I realize I was very lucky with my doodles. I did go to what I did, and still do, believe are reputable breeders but I did the research on line and had the puppies flown to me. I did speak to the breeders, though, and they are known in the breeding community etc. But I knew nothing then as compared to what I know now. Education is the key.
SICK!
I would never have been able to return Parker! From the moment I met him, he was mine and I would do anything to make him better if he got sick! I didn't get him from one of these crazy places, but if I had, I still wouldn't return him!
I would think the brokers/breeders count on that factor! Most people do bond very quickly to their puppy and won't send them back. That let's the seller off the hook!
That's what makes it even more disgusting! Only nasty words come to mind when thinking about this! I just look at my Parker and know how lucky I am to have him!
And he is lucky to have YOU! :)
And that's what makes it doubly important for people to know What to Look For in a Breeder.
Adina addresses the issue of Health Warranty/Returning the Puppy in item #4.
Adina can ban certain ads and did so when I reported brokers to her. If your still seeing broker ads let her know the url.
