Maizy hasn't been herself the last week or so. Lazy (NOT lethargic) She's been refusing dog food (but eating literally any other food. I cooked her some salmon, she gets snacks from the kids, wet doog food- you name it, she ate it).

I had some leftover prednisone from when they thought she was addisonian. I gave her one last night and she was her usual chipper self this morning. She ate her food, jumped around like a puppy. So off to the vet we go tomorrow afternoon to see what's up.

Please say some prayers for her (and me)!

I hope you get it figured out. I will be thinking of you both.

Please be aware that prednisone is not an "as needed" drug that can be started and stopped at random. It's dangerous to give it sporadically, or to start and then stop abruptly. Be sure to talk to the vet about that.

I agree although one pill will not cause great harm but clearly not a good idea at all. Not a "pep" pill.

Might she be refusing much of her dog food because you are giving her all the other stuff? Prednisone does increase appetite - I don't know if one pill would though.  I hope you and the vet can figure out what is wrong.

I hope everything gets figured out for you and Maisy.

I hope you get some answers for Miss Maizy.

Good luck at the vet...hope you get some answers.

Good luck!

From a human stand point, one dose of prednisone can increase appetite and make you feel a bit jazzed.

I took it for 2 years and gained about 30lbs!  I could never feel full while taking it. I would only stop eating because I was embarrassed!  Luckily it also worked wonders and put my kidney issue into remission.

Best thoughts for you and Maizy.
