Barking/whining/crying in crate

Maggie is 5 mos old and sleeps in her crate at night with no noises. I ran into my neighbor who lives downstairs from me, and she says that Maggie is constantly crying/whining/barking after I leave for work every day. I leave the TV on for her during the day and her crate has comfort things in for her. The crate is located in the living/dining room and I have an open concept kitchen/dining/living room....any suggestions?

I don't own a crate, I used to gate Max in the kitchen, but he has free roam of the house now. As long as you've made sure the area is safe and she's not getting into any trouble then there isn't any reason to not leave her out especially if she's happier.
