Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Here is a picture of my baby "Lucy". The first one is at 12 weeks.

I was told that she was a F1 (Dad a white standard poodle/ Mom a golden). Because of her chalk color, I have determined that she is not a full golden (as I was beginning to suspect). However... wondering if she is a goldendoodle + poodle mix which would make her 75% golden and 25% poodle... hence the flat, smooth coat and beardless face. Perhaps the poodle that was bred with the golden didn't produce puppies, but another goldendoodle (without the breeders knowledge) on the property was the actual father. There were 12 puppies in the litter and all of them look like Lucy... no beard...smooth coat.
I have read (and would agree) that a 50-50 mix would never produce a beardless face. I have a labradoodle and totally understand that there is no way to predict how curly the puppy will be, understand all the coat changes & understand that there are simply differences in coats.
I am having a huge struggle right now: Lucy does not seem to be who she was represented to be. Every time I look at her I think about how she isn't what I had wanted for over a year. On the other hand... I love her. BUT... because I *do* love her, I want her to be in the best possible place with someone who will look at her and not think any negative thoughts! My window of time on this is short as my labradoodle loves her, I love her, etc. She is precious, but looks like a golden not a goldendoodle.
Someone with knowledge please give me advice. Is there a chance for her to become more fluffy... particularly in the face. Also, please don't judge me for thinking about giving her to someone else. I am a loyal and loving dog-mother. This is why my heart is breaking over this issue. I need encouragement, not judgment here... help!

I guess I'll add my baby boys pics and story here just so you can see him and form your own opinion. I too have an F1 goldendoodle (golden mom and poodle dad). Anyway when we brought him home he looked just like a golden retriever puppy. The girls at my vet's office actually commented that they thought I'd gotten a golden retriever puppy instead of a golden doodle. Well he's definitely a doodle. He's really light chalk color too but will get some golden highlights on the tips of his hair when it's longer and his mom was not an english golden retriever, but his dad was a white poodle. I'll add his pics so you can see. Started out looking very golden retriever like but is all doodle looking now! BTW none of the others in his litter had beards, but one of them was pretty wavy.

Ha, what a handsome doodle!
Adorable!!!! I love that expression on his face!
Lucy is adorable regardless but I totally understand having your heart set on something. Here are a couple of pictures of my friends F1 goldendoodle - he very much had the golden retreiver look and now as you can see total doodle. The first picture he was 13 weeks and the second 9 1/2 months......

What a CUTIE!
Love those eyes!
I think there is a big chance she will get doodlier - you just never know.

However, if you are certain you will not be happy with her if she ends up looking (or being) more retrieverish, you might consider contacting the DRC or iDog as Karen suggested. Your labradoodle will have a hard time losing his sister the longer you wait.

Personally, I think she is ADORABLE. By the way, everyone thought Peri (F1) was a golden retriever. She was always slightly wavy though.
Well, I thought I'd share my pictures of Stanley so you can see his doodle-development so far. This first pic is Stan at almost 12 weeks old, and then again just last week at 7 months old. In the third picture he is the doodle on the right, the other is Stella who is 3.5 years old. I think he is adorable, but he is getting a more doodly look as he grows. Good luck with Lucy!
