Best Carrier for Traveling for Mini Goldendoodle

We are trying to find the best carrier that will fit our 8 month old mini goldendoodle who is 18 pounds now. We tried out the highly rated Sherpa ones (the large says it fits up to 25 pounds) - but Paddy has a very tall body and didn't fit in there. We live in the city and we need a carrier to bring him on the subway trains to/from work - not as concerned about being able to fit under the seat on an airplane.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

I really hesitate to suggest anything, because I have never met a mini-doodle, let alone had one. 

But would this be a possibiliity? It looks like it might be taller when its standing up.  I'm thinking of getting one when I get my puppy, hopefully in 6-8 months.
