Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello all.

In 2 weeks my puppy will arrive, she'll be just slightly over 8 weeks old. Can anyone please give me recommendations for what toys I should buy now in preparation? I want to have a few in readiness. I'm sure she'll need something to chew on ... in the local store there was a dizzying assortment of cute things. But I don't want to buy something that looks cute to me, I'd like to get the most useful items.  Thanks in advance for any advice.

I just got my 8 week old puppy 5 days ago and the toys he likes most are his chew toys - nyla bones, sterilized stuffed bones, and a cow hoof.  I had bought mostly squeaky toys and rubber kongs and had to run out to the store for more chewing stuff.  He gets bored with each thing quickly, so I only give him one or two at a time and rotate them.

For playing, he likes the rope toys with knots on the end, an empty water bottle, and a stuffed duck with bells in it.

Hope that helps!

One of our favorites and longest lasting is a rope ball. It's a ball made from the tugging rope material. Safe for indoor tossing and it stands up to chewing very well! No potential choking hazards, yet interesting to him. Nylabones started breaking and Finn was getting plastic pieces off and I haven't been ready to give him a bone for fear of choking or stomach aches.

We bought a puppy kong.
