Well, the Devers clan is adding another pack member but this ones a little human baby instead of a furry one! We're having a baby!!!!!! YAY! :) we're excited but I want to start working on things with jace and Maggie ASAP. I want them as close to perfect as we can get by the time the baby comes. Any suggestions would be amazing! Here's some problems they have and any recommended solutions would be awesome. We have them enrolled in an AKC obedience class starting march 12, Maggie (6 mos) chews things she's not supposed to, counter surfs(working on that), and barks in her crate when were not in the room. Jace really has no problems. He listens great, he stopped jumping and knows all his commands. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!:)

Congratulations.  Looking forward to photos of your new little one when it arrives.  Happy Days ahead!

As far as Maggie goes, I hope she will outgrow the chewing up things. I have one that chewed and when he was chewing something he shouldn't, I would get the toy box and distract him by throwing a good chewable toy and letting him chew that for 15 minutes or so.  then I would take the toy away and put it up.  If he started chewing right away again, I would give him the chew toy again for another 10 minutes and then put up and give him a treat for being good.  Eventually, he got past chewing of things that were off limits.  Remember at six months of age, it could be that his permanent canines are breaking through and she is teething (at least that is what a read when Beau was going through this).  I hope the chewing stage passes quickly.

Congratulations!  What an exciting time in your life this is.  Don't know if you have family with dogs to visit,  but we set up a baby corral and put the baby inside the corral.  Our dogs were very curious and at first got upset when our granddaughter cried.  They quickly got used to her, but it kept her safe while they did.   We bought extra lengths of it and made it larger as she grew so that her toys were safe.  Adults took turns getting inside the corral with her.

Congratulations....such an exciting time!
