I am so happy to report that the boarding issue for Meg has been solved. Meg will be staying in her own home and we have found a delightful young man that will Meg/house sit for us. He is coming back for the second time today to handle her a bit and make sure she is comfortable with him. I can not believe how much I have stressed over this issue, thought it was settled with a kennel. I was whining about it to my friend who then mentioned it to her grandson. He is on a break from college and needing extra cash. I know this young man, his parents are the police chief in the town next to us and a court recorder. He is well thought of at school and among his peers. He came right over to meet Meg and is willing to do this for no more than the kennel was charging. However he will earn more, it is so worth it to me to have her home and not freaked out. I am so happy and just needed to share that where I knew it would be understood! Thanks for all the previous ideas that were thrown out there.

What a great solution. We have not been on a private vacation ever since we got Monty (almost 3 years now). On one hand I would love to have some time off, but on the other hand, I know I would miss the boys and worry about them. Perhaps dog/house sitting is the best way to go.
I so agree with you Laurie. They are as precious and mean the same to us as children and I would be so happy to find someone like that young man.
My college and out of college kids dog sit for a few people - and for us. It really is great to have someone in your home.
My youngest son used to pet sit. Great gig if you can get it. I am truly happy for you. Great peace of mind. I also may have an AussieDoodle to pet sit this week. I'm begging them to bring Bill over while his mom is in the hospital.
May you have a safe trip.
Paul came by yesterday to spend a bit of time with Meg so she would know him before we leave, he put her through all her commands and tricks, took her out to play Frisbee and do her business, fed her dinner and played in the house with her. I loved watching them. From her greeting with him I think I know he would be the best person to use to teach her the social art of greeting others properly, she actually wiggled around him so much that she ended up turning a somersault at his feet trying to get enough attention...if I could make her great him in a sit stay I know she could handle anyone.
Thank you for your post, Judy. I'm glad that you have found a solution for Meg while you are away from home. We might be facing the same issue when we take a cruise next year for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. One of the trainers for our breeder said that she would watch Traz when we went on this cruise...but that was when we first got him 3 months ago. He is now 7 1/2 months old, bigger, stronger and extremely curious. We have him in training and hopefully some of these curiosity/puppy issues will resolve themselves so she will still take care of him when we are gone. We'll wait and see. In the meantime, I'll be thinking of someone that might be able to come into the house and pet sit for us. That would be the ideal situation, if our first alternative doesn't work out. Happy Holidays :-)
