We take our 14 month old ALD walking and snowshoeing with us in the winter. Are boots and coats necessary for longer jaunts outside? She loves the snow and has enjoyed the recent northwest snowstorms without any protection, but I'm wondering about the longer excursions, like a snowshoe adventure. She's cut pretty short right now. Thanks for any advice.

How cold is it where you are? How long are the excursions? We take Riley for hour long walks in the woods up to -15c (5f) or so with no issues. She is a very fluffy big bear though. :p
I would maybe invest in a good pair of fleece lined boots. Luna had a pair of fleece lined muttluks, they are great boots that actually stay on. Riley so far has not needed boots and she has been out for shorter 20 minute outings at -25c (-15f ish) so she is fairly cold tolerant but Luna always needed boots at colder than -15ish Celsius.
You could maybe get a light sweater if she seems cold, I was always under the impression jackets were mostly needed for very small or short haired breeds like boxers.
