With the info on Almost Heaven posted the other day I wondered........how many kennels does a state allow a breeder to have? Where is the line drawn between breeder and mill operator? Do they just consider it a mill if the dogs are mistreated? What is the limit of dogs a responsible breeder should be breeding?

If the breeder happens to be Amish or Mennonite I guarantee they are a mill operation....The Humane Society estimates that upwards of 80 percent of the mills are Amish or Mennonite owned the largest concentrations of them being in PA, OH, IN, MO, WI and the bordering Canadian provinces...
Jacquie - Why don't you quit beating around the bush and say what you mean!!! LMAO! I know what your saying, but that is all they could find on this breeder when they researched the breeder online....
If I were researching a breeder online and that was the only information that I found?... that would be REASON ENOUGH to STAY CLEAR!....lol....
Ok what post does this response fall under? Mine? The order is confusing.

"If I were researching a breeder online and that was the only information that I found?... that would be REASON ENOUGH to STAY CLEAR!....lol...."

??
I think it's replying to Chris's post second from the bottom on page 2.
The order is confusing. Everybody replied to another post and we got a subtext going.
I was replying to Chris who was saying that they researched the breeder on line and all that they found was information about all of their religious affiliations.....
OK LOL..I am lost ...the order.
I personally feel anyone who breeds more than two to three types of dogs at one time should be considered a puppy mill. There is no way you can research and keep up with breed standards with all these breeds even to perfect one breed.

This was stated by me above and I would like to make it clearer for some on here why I said this, so my words are not mistaken, twisted and confused.

First when ever I have breed a dog, and yes I have breed dogs since the age of 13, all were tested for eyes, hips, and other health issuses before they were breed.... along with male or female used to breed with them having the same testing. 2nd since all dogs that were breed by me were AKC and legal records for every dog owned by me, breed and sold by me were kept, all were also researched with their linage and whom they were purchased from, private breeder or kennel. In fact I still have all them records if anyone cares to see them and my breeding book with my AKC papers and information for every pup kept and sold, along with their pictures, and have kept in touch with everyone I have ever sold a pup to...this is now about 15 to 20 years since I bread a dog...hmmmm but I'm a backyard breeder. In fact I might even be better than some breeders on this site, as I have all Day to devote to socializing a pup and giving a litter my 100% devotion to its well being, care and training so it does not wind up in a shelter. Also I have never sold a pup to a store, or puppy dog shop, doggy auction, or someone who was not personally screened by myself and I knew the pup was getting a good home. 85% of my pups have been sold by word of mouth and not even advertised in a newspaper and never have been posted anywhere on the internet. Wow thats a pretty good record for a backyard breeder!!! Only once did I have a problem out of 30 some pups sold in my lifetime and that was the carelessness of the buyer who did not get the pup its parvo shot and the pup contacted it a month and a half after I sold the pup. No other pups or the parents of this pup had parvo and I was clearly not responsible for this. I also take some responsibility because I felt sorry for a paper boy who saved his money to purchase this pup and left him even keep some of his money so I knew this pup would get to a Vet. I have not breed my dogs on a regular basis either as puppy mills will constantly do. All my dogs and pups have been cleared by my Vet before breed or sold. When Hannah was purchased all the proper questions were aksed and answered, she came down with Entropine and being a RESPONSIBLE Person she was SPAYED, also the Breeder where she was purchased from, Paid for the Spaying and eye surgery. Clearly a puppy mill would not do this, or even go to the extent of this. I have never stated I would, or wanted to breed a dog just because I love the dog and wanted to. I clearly know all that is involved with breeding. As for breeding Honey, she is under a "LEGAL BINDING CONTRACT" still considered legal and binding in PA untill I am notified by a Judge or Magistrate in Pennsylvania of it not being a contract, I have had threats made for testifying in court against AHK, by Skip Eckhart, Brian Smith, April Welter, etc... that I will be taken to the D.A.'s office and charged with issues I can not even discuss on here as of yet till this is over with AHK and all appeals are either exhausted or lost. So till some know the full story of everything...I will leave your mouth in the hanging postion it belongs in!!!! Sorry for being so blunt but than again not because it's the way I have been made to feel.....
I also hate to differ with someone concerning newspapers and researching on the internet. 2 years ago was a traumatic time in my life, I didn't read newspapers, nor did I do research on the internet. Getting my own life in order has been challenge enough from a disability, let alone reading all the disgusting news and killings, or being on line and having every Tom, Dick, and Harry I Ming or Emailing you, along with you can't trust everything on the net or printed. I trusted the facts that a few friends had purchased their dogs there and they were all satisfied and didn't know what was going on there either. These people are all well educated, have great jobs, and felt by paying the higher price for the pup they were getting a first class Doodle. When Honey was purchased from there, I was fully aware of what was going on, and didn't want to believe this was actually happening and wanted to prove to myself one way or the other, and I did exactly that by purchasing her with Skip knowing me and not thinking he or anyone else would risk selling me a sick dog, but they did! So I'm really sorry some are mind boggled about the fact some knew this 2 years ago, however there are alot still out there who don't know this and would still purchase a dog from him, and trust him. I never knew he was arrested and in jail when he lived in Weissport PA, or lost his AKC license in the late 80's early 90's....funny he lived right down the street from my parents and never heard of him, and I read the paper...way back when!!!! I'm also getting so mind boggled at the fact that not everyone in life is as perfect as others and gees we just are expected to be!!!!
