Does anyone have a recommendation for a labradoodle or goldendoodle breeder near Pittsburgh?  We are looking for a red female (small standard, large medium), f1b.  Prices we have noticed range from $700 to more than $2500.  I'm sure it is in the blog, but is it just demand that causes these pups to be so pricey when they are mixed breed?

I would suggest that you take a look at "What to Look for in a Breeder".  Here is the link:

That will give you some input on what  the difference in price can be.  Additionally, it is against our Community Rules to give Breeder recommendations in the general forums so people will need to Private Message you with any recommendations.  So, if you get a "friend request" from someone you will need to accept it so they can send you a PM.  The thing to keep in mind though is that just because someone loves their Doodle (which we all do) and that it appears healthy, you need to make your own determination about the breeder.  The best way to do that is to compare against the "What to Look For In A Breeder" article.  There is a wealth of information here on DK and since you are just starting your search you will be able to go into it with a lot of information.  Look at the groups section and see if there are some groups you might want to join.  Do a search if you have a specific question as it has probably been discussed many times.  If you don't find an answer feel free to start a discussion and ask away.  Good luck in your search and keep us posted.  Welcome to Doodle Kisses.

Under $1500-1800 usually indicates the breeder is a 'backyard breeder' (not a good thing though it has little to do with a backyard).  But $1500-1800 doesn't guarantee a responsible breeder either.  So using the breeder article above should help you differentiate.
