I would love to here from you about this subject. I have a male f1b that is 5 months now. The vet says that it is time to get him fixed. I have in the back of my head that I may want to breed him. Is it a good idea to breed a f1b and with what type of doodle or poodle. Any suggestion? I would love to find a great breeder that would like to use him but I really don't know if it is good idea.

He would be bred to another doodle--not a poodle since he is already 3/4 poodle.

Things to think about:

1--does your breeder's contract allow you to breed him? if it does not...then you won't have the health background you need (not just parents but grandparents and their relatives) to determine if he should be bred. you can also lose your health guarantee.

2--are you prepared to pay for hips, eyes, etc to be tested and given clearances? Please read my post about potential health problems in doodles and important health testing to undergo:

3--a GOOD breeder will only use him if the above are true.
Hi Johnna. My F1b golden doodle Sam was bred with a female of the same in November. Bemy, the female, had 3 beautiful puppies December 15. We expect the puppies, 2 girls, 1 boy, to weigh about 40 lbs with fleece coat like both parents.

It has been a great experience for us all so far and I am trying to decide about mating Sam one more time before fixing him. You might consider discussing this with your original breeder about potential mates.

Good luck.
