Hello doodlelovers, my grandma's dog is behaving strangely today and seems very uncomfortable with his butt. He isn't licking or biting it, but he keeps showing everyone his bottom to tell us something is wrong with it. When you lift his tail up to look he sits down immediately, but I have managed to look and it doesn't look weird. He's also quite restless, so it's bothering him- whatever it is. Sometimes he walks normally but every now and then he curves his spine and goes into the "poop position". He doesn't actually poo, but he keeps on walking like that until his legs cramp and he falls on his bottom. Has anyone experienced something similar or does anyone know what might be bugging him?

Is he pooping normally or could he be constipated, or does he have a fishy odor. A bad fishy odor could be an anal glad issue. If it could be constipation try giving him a little bit of pumpkin and see if that helps. Have you felt around the area, like if he sat on a thorn or something. Otherwise a trip to the vet might be in order.

Some of what you are describing can be symptoms of a spinal problem; Jack did some of this prior to a diagnosis of a herniated lumbar disc.

But it could also be something like constipation. Is he pooping normally? If so, a vet visit may be in order.

It sounds like his anal glands may need to be expressed....if it keeps up I'd take him in to have the vet check.

I would take him to the vet. He must be in pain or uncomfortable and should be looked at, in my opinion. He also could need his anal glands expressed.
