And we're going to the vet very late this afternoon, but I wanted to see if anyone has had this with their doodles (or other dogs). I noticed it a week ago and it was a smallish bump on her beak (which is what we call the muzzle in my family, because we're weird and rename everything!). I called the vet about it and she advised me to watch it for a couple of days...and then we had an ice storm, so I kinda had nothing to do BUT watch the bump. It got a little bigger and changed from her regular skin color to a pinkish red and while it's hard to tell because of her fur, it looks like it has a "head" on it.

Is it maybe a spider bite? As horrifying as that is, it kinda looks like that (which means there's a spider in my house, available and brazen enough to bit my sweet Callie's beak! It feels very firm otherwise, and it's gotten fairly large, probably 4cm (again - we were iced in for 3 days and I had PLENTY of time to examine it. Never could get a good picture though!)

Just interested in y'all's take on what this MIGHT be. Thanks!

UPDATE:

The vet diagnosed this as a histocytoma. It's not fluid filled, but she drew out some cells with a syringe so she could examine them and make sure that they are benign (and it is completely benign). She said that it should go away on it's own within a few weeks but if it doesn't or if it grows bigger or changes shape then she would recommend removing it.

Callie was a total trouper through her exam and was rewarded with some chicken with her dinner.

Maybe it's a papilloma like Fudge just had. Could you get a picture?
No - I can't seem to part the fur on her beak, keep her still, and take a picture all at the same time. Clearly, the issue is me!
Maybe if you wet the hair it would help.
Does it have a black dot in the center?  and (I apologize here) but can you squeeze it?  Lucy had 3 back during the holidays.  First one on her leg, then 2 on her back.  All 3 I found while she was just laying beside me and I was rubbing her.  The first one on her leg didn't have the black spot in the beginning.  Once I saw that it occurred to me to try and squeeze (yuck).  Lots of goop in it!  Then the next two came along and same thing.  I called vet and explained and she said as long as there weren't a whole bunch of them (many more than 3) we did not need to worry about them.  They are all now gone.
I can't really tell if it has a black dot in the center, because it could also just be a hair root! I've had to physically restrain myself from trying to pop it. I've squeezed it very gently, but nothing popped. If it was on me, I would have popped that sucker on day 1!!!!!
I originally thought hair root (like ingrown hair) as well.  But unlike you, I just couldn't leave it alone!  I'll be watching to see what the vet says!
Since she has a scab under her chin that I keep picking at, I decided to leave the nose bump to a professional!

Tara recently developed a bump on the back of her head/neck area. It was fairly small but I am not happy with any size of bump anywhere!! This was maybe 3/4 of a pea sized or maybe 1/2 and is pretty hard.  Anyhow, the vet said it is a cyst and to just watch it. It is too small to aspirate for now. Apparently they are fairly common and she said it is likely that Tara will get more! :(

Tara's bump did not grow rapidly though. It came on over a couple of months. Callies may be a bite of some type.

One of my sister's dogs gets cysts like that! We call them her "barnacles" (wasn't kidding about how we make up names for things!). They really do no harm at all. Scoobie (the dog) just got her teeth cleaned and while she was under the vet lasered all the barnacles off and they've not grown back yet.
We had a toy poodle years ago and she used to get these growths!  We were told it is a white dog thing.  She had so many at one point we asked the vet to remove them.  We had them removed on 2 occasions.  The first time they took off 55 of them.  They were just nasty looking, but apparently harmless.

Ha! I like "barnacles!"!! That takes some of the scariness out of it!!  One of our kitties had one once on his face and his was removed during a teeth cleaning event too!  Hopefully Tara's won't get any bigger or bother her any.

Do dogs get zits?

Sure, the can get skin pustules etc.
