DRC is my favorite all time rescue dog group ever. If you ever want to do something for me, donate to them.

Lisa, these dogs are not with Jennifer. She is in South Carolina. The person you met must have been the actual owner.
I hope that everyone will keep the rescue option in mind when this kind of situation arises. The dogs can always stay where they are until they are adopted, they do not have to go into foster homes unless the owner needs them to. The rescues screen all applicants, check vet records on their current and former pets, make sure that the dogs are placed with owners who are experienced, in the homes that best fit their individual needs, and most importantly, offer a safety net for life in the event that the dog ever has to be rehomed again, so that no dog is ever bounced around from home to home.
Jennifer, I really wish Jack's breeder would take these two back. I know Peri's would, in a heartbeat. She has sent emails helping other breeders rehome dogs before (I think she has had one rehome that I know of and ended up keeping that dood as a pet). Your breeder would have an excellent source of families to find homes for these two. I did read that she has them posted on her site - but has she sent emails, etc... I also hope she takes them before the grandparent needs to get rid of the dog quickly. Ugh worst case scenario! If the breeder route doesn't work, I agree with Karen's statement above. I have told families before to contact breed-specific rescues if they need to find alternative homes for their dogs. I will not condone it, but I will help point them in the right direction.
We have had several reputable breeders contact the DRC for help in rehoming their dogs whose owners could not keep them, especially in cases where the dogs were located too far for the breeder to take them back.
Yes, but I have to send that to you privately. Or, she can message Jacquie on FB.
Just to clarify, dogs can stay in the owner's home until they are adopted. AS you know, the DRC is not a shelter, the dogs don't have to actually go anywhere to be in the program. They can be adopted directly from their current homes. I don't understand why anyone would not want to take advantage of a rescue groups' resources, ability to get the dog maximum exposure on Petfinder, and the rescue's assistance with screening potential adopters. The rescue also offers resources to the new owner. Where is the downside to that? The only reason not to do it would be if the person wanted money for the dog.
Regarding resources for the new owners. Being rehomed is about the most traumatic experience a dog can ever go through, and experienced rescue volunteers know how to help the new owner with the adjustment period, expectations, new behaviors, etc. Have the FB fans had a lot of experience with that?

Keep us posted Jennifer! And thank you for trying to help these two sweet doodles :) It sounds like they will find a new home together and that the breeder will help make sure of it.
BTW, DH and I are reworkign our will right now and including a stipulation about where the dogs go (my sister first, then parents after) and am also adding a clause tthat if in the unlikely event they cannot care for the dogs or should something happen to them, they are required to call Peri's breeder or the DRC for help placing Peri and Tacky (since I would hope they would stay together). This is literally worst case scenario.
