I love the curly Desi! What were his parents? Is he what is known as a "double doodle?" My dog, Murphy, will be 1 on June 1st and currently weighs 41 lbs. He was wavy as a 9 week old puppy when I got him, but is very curly now, no shedding at all. I don't know what all the "f1, f2" means. All I know is Murphy's parents were (mom) a 30 lb. Australian Labradoodle and (dad) 35 lb. Goldendoodle. I found it interesting that Murphy's mom was black with a little white under the chin/chest area. Dad was fully golden and Murphy turned out fully golden and his ears are a just a little darker. He has some white mixed in throughout his coat on chest, sides and belly. He weighs more than either parent already and I assume he will grow a little more, being that he's not quite 1 yet. I'm not sure at what age they reach their "adult" size. Murphy is much curlier than I expected, although I don't mind, he is gorgeous and his coat is easy to maintain. All I really know is that I was told that my dog had more poodle in him and was a "double doodle." I got him from a guy near Seattle who is a teacher and just breeds one or two litters in the summer as a hobby/extra income. Not sure if that makes him a "backyard" breeder but his place was clean and the puppies were well-cared for and mom was on site. He did tell me he usually just bred goldendoodles or Australian doodles. He said this was his first litter mixing an Aust. with a goldendoodle. So far, Murphy is a smart and healthy dog. :-) My profile pic is him at about 9 months old and the attached is him a few days ago. I just see all these discussions about f1 and f2 and "will he doodle out" and I don't really know what Murphy is, in regards to that.
Murphy is a double doodle. There are not as many Australian labradoodle/goldendoodle crosses. If the breeder does research on what a good pairing would be for his dog, health tests his dogs and breeds them to health tested dogs, he is a hobby breeder. If he does not do the above stuff, he is a backyard breeder. Murphy might be full grown as the smaller doodles are done growing earlier than the larger ones.
