Can YOU Guess The Breed of this corded dog?

Downtown today I spotted this dog:

 

 

Take a guess what you think before you read on...

 

I first spotted it across the street and had a moment to ponder things before the light turned.  My brain went back and forth with guesses but as I got closer I decided on what it was and approached the owner dude asking "Is that a corded poodle?" He said YES and was super impressed so I told him I thought his dog was the wrong color to be one of the other corded breeds and again he was impressed because apparently nobody ever gets it right!.  LOL...what can I say I was really proud of my dog breed nerdiness...or maybe dorkness since nerd assumes I actually KNOW what I'm talking about.  Teeheee =)

 

What was your first and last impression before reading the answer?

It looks stockier where the cords are, but if you look very carefully at its waist in the second photo, you'll see it is shaved there and is quite thin. The photo doesn't really make it clear, though.

I'm part of the nerdy dog obsessed group. I guessed corded poodle but thought I was probably wrong. Haha

Dog nerds unite! People at the dog park always look at me in shock when I can guess their rare/unusual dog breeds. I blame it not being able to have a dog when I was learning to read, and therefore obsessively bringing home dog breed books from the library.

I guessed corded doodle.  I haven't ever seen a corded poodle, so it's neat to see this one and the ones in the other pics people posted. I do think it looks better on Spud than on the poodle in the original post. Spud is adorable with his cords.

I have to say that I really do not like the look of this corded poodle.  At first glance I thought abused dog.  Having said that, I think that Spud looks adorable corded.  I do though think that corded is a very personal preference.  For me it would never work because I'm Matt obsessed. If I even feel a matt, I stop whatever I'm doing and go tackle it right then and there ..... I can't help myself.    I'm shocked to read that Joanne shaved Spud down.  All that work ..... but I wouldn't want him to be uncomfortable either.
